I’d it too early to nominate Liverpool/Egypt Mohammed Salah for player of the year? I hate Liverpoo but he is amazing and I love Kloop.
Its snowing for the Manchester Derby. It just can’t be better. I’m also jealous as its 81 here and its really boring to have a second summer.
That goal was amazing. Shrugs off two players on the way to making the shot. But, then, he blows the header that would have won the game. :dubious:
Of course, if not for a really dodgy penalty, they’d have won anyway.
That game was a real comedy of errors creating all three goals. I still love the comical attempt by Young to head the cross that eventually ended up in the first goal.
I went to the Manchester game yesterday - a friend lent me his season ticket. First time I’ve properly watched City this season and they were exceptional, outclassed Utd by quite a bit tbh. De Bruyne and Silva absolutely ran the show, although I guess the scoreline didn’t reflect this.
Felt a bit for big Rom, whilst he did have an absolute rubber-shinned stinker of a game, he didn’t really deserve the scapegoating he was getting from the fans sat around me [which was a carbon copy of what he used to get at Goodison]. Zero creativity in the Utd midfield yesterday, and Lukaku can never flourish in those circumstances. Pogba a big loss in this respect, as he would have established a creative channel to get Rom playing.
Just want to point out that my Leicester City Foxes are back, big-time! Claude Puel has them working quite well now; they can even hold the ball and pass it around! Mahrez is on fire, and Jamie Vardy is the handful he was during the Championship season. Heck, even Okazaki is scoring!
I’d love to see us sneak in and nip one of the Europa League spots!
It is a measure of some sort – I’m puzzled as to exactly what kind – that Puel was deemed not up to Southampton standards (I’m a Saints guy, btw) yet is achieving unmistakably good things with the Foxes while Soton hovers but a few points above the relegation zone.
Leicester is an attractive team to watch this season, much more so than my own guys.
Sure they’ll come down to earth, but it’s neat for the time being seeing Burnley sitting in 6th spot, a point ahead of the Gunners. Curious what the friction between Giroux and Wenger may be.
Man City’s De Bruyne has really stood out for me this season.
I read that Giroud is hellbent on playing an important role for the French national team next summer and has been informed, or is concerned, that his lack of starting time for the Gooners is hurting those chances.
Well, THAT was like taking candy from a baby! Leicester City 2 - 2 Man U!! 94th min. goal by Foxes, who were down a man for the last 15+ min. Talk about Christmas presents!!!
Thanks Foxes!
Keep man u dropping points.
The way City are playing, I don’t think they are going to need any help this season.
Indeed. Yahoo Sports’ enthusiastic footy columnist, Henry Bushnell, ranks Citeh currently best in the world, ahead of even the Spanish giants and PSG (though we may all need to re-think the status of Real Madrid with their struggles this season, including yesterday’s home drubbing by Barca).
City are pretty ridiculous.
I am just happy to see United drop points. I’m a Tottenham fan and find United’s attitude in generated Jose in particular to be obnoxious.
Harry Kane has scored more goals in 2017 than Lionel Messi.
That is all.
The really amazing thing about that stat (as well as the fact it has been achieved in a more competitive league, with less talented players surrounding him) is that it has taken him 8 fewer games. I find that astonishing. I hope for the sake of English football he stays fit for many seasons.
The Special One’s little whine the other day about United not spending the kind of money that City has been spending was pretty amusing. That’s Trumpian level complaining right there.
What I like about Man City’s spending is that its redistributing the wealth the West spent on petroleum back home. ![]()
While most are probably wondering how the van Dijk sale will affect the balance of power at the top of the table, we Saints fans are now wondering how our new Chinese owners will spend this latest pile of Liverpool cash. Another couple of lead-footed Danish middies, perhaps?
The Premier? In terms of…
overall skill?
Champions League win/loss records between the two league’s teams?
tighter clamouring in relegation?
(not that I’m trying to pose those as immediate negatings - just curious.)
Not sure if I should be making hay out of seeing Coutinho’s instagram with a broker, along with rumours of a move to Barca, who’ve been eyeing him since last summer. (manoman what a wrecking ball that he, Salah, and Firmino have been in a lot of their games I’ve seen this season.)
