English Premier League and Football in General

Just come across this. Very addictive.

Ouch! That’s more than a ‘Premium Seat’ season ticket for Portman Road. Bottom of the North Stand is £375 - which I’d be getting, if my car hadn’t failed its MOT :frowning:

I think the face value of my season book was £450 last year. I haven’t heard yet whether they’re going up next year. The nice thing is that my supporters’ club runs a subsidy scheme, where the more you travel with the club, the larger subsidy you get for next year’s book. Out of 79 people, I’m currently tied with three others for second place.

I’m having a mental block over the right word to describe David O’Leary and need help. He is such a towering bell-end that I don’t know were to start. Is it just me or do other people find him to be an evasive, dissembling bollox?

He has that Glen Hoddle style arrogance that implies his team should thank their lucky stars that they are coached by such a protean talent. The mediocrity of Villa this season can in no possible way be connected with his abilities as a coach, manager and motivator.

don’t yet know what it will be for next season, i payed about £400 for this season, but that was in the cheap seats.

Just to give you an idea of comparison with sports in the USA:

Season tickets for our baseball club:

Low end: $475
High end: $10, 935

Paid parking is an additional $350-550

Baseball has 81 home games a season, though.

American football:

Low end: $654
High end: $1,350*

This is for 18 games, including 2 meaningless exhibitions.

*There are much more expensive “corporate sponsor” sort of seats. These aren’t listed.

Also, I don’t know if it’s even possible to buy seats for the football team, they had been sold out with a waiting list. But given their last 2 seasons this may no longer be true.

Tickets for our NHL (ice hockey) team would have been from $750-7500 for the season, but the current strike/labour dispute makes that irrelevant. I forget exactly how many games in a hockey season, but I think it’s in the 30-40 games range.

Note that for both hockey and baseball you can buy less than a full season’s tickets.

It’s not just you!

We’re seventh - just behind the mighty Bolton. It’s all to play for - we have Liverpool next week. Well done west Brom!

hmmm team directly behind us playing the team directly ahead. I’ll have to root for a draw on that one, and hope that we can take a point or 3 at Charlton

Awesome result for Norwich at the weekend - gives us a little bit of breathing space over ManUre now.

Shame that Chelsea didn’t drop all three points though (not that i’m seriously expecting them to drop the ball this late in the season).

I decided to stay up and watch MoD2 last night, Everton had a good result (for a change) and I wanted to see how they got on. I notice that the US Masters Golf is on BBC2 all evening, but a quick check of the TV guide reveals that all is well, MotD is on BBC 1 at 11pm.

So I settle down and fire up the telly at the appointed time, only to have my balls retract with consternation that its showing fucking Celtic versus fucking Hearts in the fucking Scottish cup final!!!

BBC1 Scotland strikes again…

It probably won’t improve your mood to be told that Everton were very good indeed, and you seem to have another teenage wunderkind.

Did anyone actually watch this match? I’m wondering how they managed to lose to the Canaries?

Wow, the cheek of BBC Scotland to show a Scottish game instead of an English one . Obviously English sport should always take precedence

I’ve been wondering that, too. The Norfolk bastards at BBC East spent about five minutes showing fans celebrating, and so didn’t bother mentioning the football. Which makes me suspect it was Utd playing badly rather than Norwich playing well

Of course it should. What do you prefer to watch in Baile Atha Cliath, the league of Ireland or the EPL?

Sadly i was out all Saturday so didn’t listen to the footie or catch MOTD.

Nearly pissed myself laughing when i was reading the paper in the cafe on Sunday though and saw the result.

According to the lads in the pub last night, ManUre didn’t play badly and controlled most of the game, they were just poor in attack and couldn’t break down a spirited Norwich defence. Norwich then caught them out with a decent set piece and grabbed a second on the break whilst ManUre were still a bit dazed.

Ferguson threw on some big names after that in an effort to salvage the game but to no avail (Van Nistlerooy is still firing blanks).

You sound like a real Irishman, Mister Keogh (as opposed to Clinton Morrison or Andy Townsend).

Where the hell is Baile Atha Cliath anyways?

Too true, Garius (no relation of the Villa player?). Van is about as useful for United as Reyes is for Arsehole.

If only (mind you, Sven would still probably play me rather than give yon Darius the decent run he deserves).

It pains me, pains me i say, to see the sad and disappointed faces of the United fans as Van Nistlerooy struggles to perform for United.*

Reyes is a bit of a silly sod to be honest. Potentially he could be converted, Henry style, into a good little striker, i just don’t think he’s twigged that it takes a couple of seasons for that kind of transformation to happen - Henry didn’t become the twice-robbed world player of the year he is now overnight.

I foresee us swopping him with Real in the summer for someone - maybe as part of a deal for the Scouser.

*This is a lie.

I agree that Reyes has talent. But he’s a big girl’s blouse with that so-hard-done-by look on his spotty face whenever the ref gets it right and doesn’t award him a free kick. Henry’s a great man as well as being a great player, while Dennis is a dirty bugger (or I should say more accurately has a dirty side to his make-up) but a terrific player.

Up front United are crap except for the boy wonder. Smith will never cut it at the top level United aspire to occupy, while Saha might come good again. As for Van the Man, he has desire, he has, for a Dutchman, a decent temperament (as shown against you lot at Old Trafford last season), and he’s got a dreadful touch. He’ll score goals again when the confidence comes back, which he will do so long as he stays on the good side of the powers that be, i.e. Fergie and Keane.
