25 years ago today…I joined the Straight Dope Message Board.
I make it 26 years - congratulations either way !
Hm, how can you easily tell when a person joined? It looks like the “joined” date in the profile is just when we switched to Discourse (I know that @EnolaStraight has been here longer than 2020!). The oldest post would be an indicator, but I’m not sure how to get a list of them in order.
Actually… Was it just coincidence that we went to Discourse on the anniversary of your join date? Because that’s the only way I can see a join date listed of “June 22, 2020”, along with you getting the cake icon today, making sense.
…Wait, it does have my join date in my profile accurately as 2000. Was there some weirdness with your account when we switched over, to make that your join date? If so, are you sure about the quarter-century-ago date?
Actually… I must’ve read it wrong. Maybe I read it as 2000 .. that would make my
post make sense…
Maybe they were @Enola_Straight previously .. that one was started in 2001
(but jan 14th not jun 22) and last seen in 2020.
Curiouser and curiouser.
Once upon a Time…I was Enolancooper.
The little birthday cake icon beside my screenname informed me of my anniversary.
The birthday cake is commemorating something that happened in 2020, so probably not your original join date.
Yep, that’s what it appears.
See:
(It doesn’t show here, but the post about the liver now shows as being by “Enola_Straight”)
Can a mod merge your current account with that one so that your dates match up? Maybe I’m wrong, but I thought that usually the join date stays correct when names are changed.

I think we can, but I’ve never done it, and I don’t want to mess anything up.
And if that was your original account, you actually joined on January 14.
