Enormous, waddling, exhausted yet "glowing" pregnant doper women - How'ya doing?

What are you prospective procreators up to these summer days?

Do you feel the glow? Well do ya? Is the baby kicking yet? Are you bigger than bread box? Smaller than a Volkwagen? When is the little package due? What were your best and worst shower gifts? Are doing Lamaze? Trying water birth? Using a Doula?

What would you like more than anything else to make you more comfortable or happy at this point?

I ain’t glowing.

Nauseasted and exhausted, but I’m pretty sure no glowing has occured.

No baby showers when it’s your 4th. And it’s no fun being pregnant when it 107.

Lamaze? Nah. I already know how to squeeze them puppies out.

Water birth? Oh Yeah! All my babies have been born in hot tubs! Midwives, birth centers, and hot tubs are the way to go. You can keep the doctors and hospitals for folks who are sick or injured (I am neither).

The one thing to make me happy at this point? How about a real long foot massage?

I don’t glow - I reflect.

Kicking isn’t much fun when the little one uses your bladder as a workout station.

Nausea has given way to heartburn.

No shower or Lamaze for this one as I have a 2 year old already

No comment on the volkswagon thing. I retain a lot of water :frowning:

The boy will be born on or before October 28. We have already booked the first surgery of the morning. I’m hoping we make it that far but my guess is I will be having him on October 14th.

Hmmm I already have a helpful hubby and central air … I guess some chunky monkey would be yummy  The happiest thing I could hope for is a healthy baby and a quick recovery (no pneumonia this time please!)

What are you prospective procreators up to these summer days?

Killing time on a ‘friday’.

Do you feel the glow? Well do ya?

No glow, but a burn. I think it’s baby farts, but my OB says it’s my muscles stretching where he’s got his butt stuck (again).

** Is the baby kicking yet? **

Doesn’t stop much but for sleeping.

**Are you bigger than bread box? Smaller than a Volkwagen? **

I’m a whale waiting to become a cow.

When is the little package due?

Two weeksish if there’s room at the inn for me.

What were your best and worst shower gifts?

Best shower gift … finding out they were throwing one (I hate surprises) Worst … a sleep positioner, pacifier strings, baby powder.

**Are doing Lamaze? **

Nope. Modifed unmedicated (hard to unmedicate an induction).

**Trying water birth? **

Only if I refuse to leave the community swimming pool one day.

**Using a Doula? **

Nope, decide to make out a birth plan instead.

What are you prospective procreators up to these summer days?

Getting the nursery and house ready, running a million errands, and taking two-hour naps in addition to my ten-hour nights of sleep.

Do you feel the glow? Well do ya?

Everyone says I look great, but I wake up looking a lot more blotchy than glowing.

**Is the baby kicking yet? **

Oh yes, she has been for 20 weeks now. It’s the best thing in the world (except maybe when she was nailing me right in the cervix).

**Are you bigger than bread box? Smaller than a Volkwagen? **

I feel pretty huge, but luckily I’ve only gained about what they wanted me to, so it’s baby and accoutrements, not fat.

When is the little package due?

July 27, but she’s welcome anytime starting next week!

What were your best and worst shower gifts?

I haven’t really had a full-on shower yet, but the girls at work got me a bouncy seat, which is awesome.

**Are you doing Lamaze? **

Bradley. I’m madly practicing my relaxation (is that an oxymoronic statement?) and shooting for an unmedicated, uncomplicated birth.

**Trying water birth? **

There are tubs at the birth center, but I can’t tell what I’ll be in the mood for at the time.

**Using a Doula? **

No, I’m giving birth at a freestanding birth center with midwives, so I didn’t see the need. Even if I have to transfer to the hospital, the midwife will come with me. Plus, my husband and my mom will be there.

Thanks for asking. I’m birth-obsessed at the moment, so I love any chance to talk about it!

I’m due in 4 weeks (August 1) - and my doctor’s going to induce on that day if I haven’t gone by then.

Feeling great, but huge. He’s kicking constantly, it seems like. Except, of course, during the non-stress tests, when he invariably falls asleep.

We live about two blocks from the beach, so even though it’s really hot, I’ve stayed pretty cool. Nothing like floating in the ocean for awhile to help the swelling.

Best shower gift - 1/2 hour pregnancy massage. I’m going in a few days. Can’t wait. I’m also getting a pedicure, because I can’t reach my toes.

No doula or waterbirth. Just the standard - I’ll get an epidural if I feel the need at some point and it’s not too late. I’m no hero.

Good luck ladies.

Speaking from experience make sure you have your hospital bags packed and ready to go as early as possible. Bubbaleechie was 4 weeks early even though she was my first, I’m very lucky that I listened to the advice from the boards and packed my bags.

Another wish for good luck. Darby was due on the 15, born on the 22 (of January). Unscheduled c-section (just means it was not an emergency).

Take it easy and don’t be hard on yourself if you need meds, as long as the end result is a happy baby, everything else is moot.

I’m not due until late February, so no waddling enormousness yet, and not really any glowing either, I must say. Although annoyingly enough, I have already started to show. They say it happens faster the second time around, but good crap, at 7 weeks? It’s only noticeable when I’m wearing my swimsuit, but still, jeez.

This time around I’m just trying to avoid a repeat C-section, although since my OB says that he won’t let me go past 40 weeks due to my being diabetic now, I guess if the baby doesn’t come on his/her own by his/her due date, it’s under the knife I go. We’ll see.

MsWhatsit, you and I are due about the same time!

Glowing? I could be drilled for oil. Hair and skin have gone quite oily. However, hair growth has slowed, so perhaps won’t have to shave as often

Cravings have been fun. Last week it was coconut. This week it’s strawberries.

Quite sensitive to smells. Can not be anywhere near the puppy when she does her business. It makes me gag summat horrible.

Due to previous problems, I’ve been ordered to bed until well into the second tri-mester. Depending upon how things progress, may be allowed back to work, or may be made to remain in bed. Who knows.

I’ve always wanted a water birth. Have also thought about hypnosis. With being diabetic and the such, may end up having a C-section, though. If we do, may ask for it to be on 29th February  Or is this too cruel?

Best wishes to everyone.

Take of yourselves!

Hey! Me too! I’m at seven weeks, due near the end of February. (and if you remember my last two threads on this topic then you can’t be any more surprised than I am at being pregnant again so soon)

No glow and no kicking yet. If anything, I feel as far away from glowing as it’s possible to be. I’m exhausted all the time, and I’m experiencing major food aversions (to stuff I usually love to eat) and nausea (no throwing up at all, just that queasy feeling that I COULD throw up with a little more provocation).

I’ve gained already even though I’m being careful to eat healthy. None of my pants fit - I’m down to skirts only!

No showers yet, no decision on lamaze. Probably no doula as the hospital I’ve got to use (because of insurance) doesn’t have a doula program.

Cricket

Oh wow cricket! I’m crossing fingers and toes for you! Congrats

Happy to hear that, Cricket! I remembered you said you were going to start trying again so I was wondering if we would hear from you.

Good luck, keep us posted on how you are doing!

Thanks Tanookie and Velma ! Yep, it happened the first time it COULD have happened. What are the odds of that? I hesitated about saying anything on the board partly because I really don’t want the one-trick-pony label, and partly because I’m only seven weeks (the miscarriage was at 9 weeks). But as I said on another thread, I can’t help who I am and I’ve never been good at keeping secrets like this. Besides, Mr. Cricket and I talked about it and realized that if this was a normal pregnancy, we’d miss out on a couple of months of talking about it if we kept it secret.

I am keeping all my fingers and toes crossed. I had an OB appointment this week and so far everything looks good. Everyone keeps saying that the morning sickness type symptoms are a good sign (didn’t have any of that last time).

Cricket

Thar she blows … Wolfie showed up 22 July, 9lbs, 7oz, 21 inches. It’s nice to reach/see my ankles again

Good luck on the rest of you in your pregnancies!

WHOOHOO!! Congratulations! 9lbs 7oz is a pretty big baby, isn’t it? That’s awesome.

I’m now at 12 weeks, almost at the end of the first trimester. Looks like this one’s a keeper! I went in for genetic counseling and a CVS test (due to the miscarriage and my “advanced age” of 35, I’m considered kinda high risk, so they recommend this) last week and we could see the sprout on the utrasound! It was wiggling! I was amazed - I had no idea that we’d see something recognizable at only 11+ weeks.
Cricket - who’s apparently having a baby for real this time…

Congratulations Mynn

And yay Cricket! I too was shocked when with munchkin number one we went in and had an ultrasound at 9 weeks and the munchkin had little arm/leg buds and was wiggling around. Totally amazing!

I’m at 27 weeks and have 11 more to go at most. Got a surgery date scheduled for Oct 28 if everything is perfect from here on out. I can hardly see my toes and have to spend a lot of time with my feet up but so far so good.
