What I find amusing is how the most vocal advocates of racial superiority are always the poorest examples of it. Have you ever known a racist that accomplished anything? An average skinhead, stormfronter, nazi, or kluxer has never read a book without pictures, never held a job that didn’t require a nametag, and never had sex with a woman who didn’t charge him extra because of his smell. An above average racist is one who manages to gather together a group of the above mentioned losers and convince them that they’re something special because they were born with the same shade of skin as someone who actually accomplished something, probably by not hanging around with a bunch of racist losers. And then there’s the pinacle of the white supremist pantheon, Adolf Hitler, the man they all revere as the embodiment of their ideology. A man who had to shoot himself while hiding out in a cellar as the only alternative to becoming the boy toy for the crowd of Cossacks who were knocking on the front door. Truly the definition of a well-spent and successful life.
Now when I look at a crowd of white supremists with their shaved heads, their hoods and sheets, their nazi regalia, I’ll admit to feeling a moment of sympathy for their plight. Then I remember that nobody made them dress funny, so it’s their own fault if they look like a bunch of fools.

Frighteningly, racists have managed to accomplish quite a lot, really… Adolph Hitler changed the history of the world in rather significant ways. Some for the better, and some for the worse. Even those who are bad examples are, after all, examples. If it weren’t for Hitler we wouldn’t know what Nazis are capable of, and we’d be a little bit more likely to fall for their lies.

I’m probably going to get flamed for this, but I like seeing what these folks have to say. I know I can just go visit their own sites, but what I like even more is seeing how more eloquent and knowledgeable Dopers than myself respond to their theories (helps me understand how to deal with them myeslf, you see), and how they respond.
And also, I have to take issue with lots of folks calling all of them Final-Solution-supporting Nazis. I’m sure some of them would truly like a Final Solution in the deepest of their hearts, but to paint them all that way is unfair. Not everyone in a group believes or acts the same way. Millen88, for example, has repeatedly said that he is just a separatist, not a supremacist and certainly not an advocate of genocide. This may be bullshit for all I know, but on the Dope, we’re supposed to take people at their word unless they give us compelling reason to cry foul. Not all separatists actually want harm to come to those not of their group. Not all racists are Nazi assholes. In fact, my dad, for one, has racist stereotypes embedded in his head, but this is from ignorance, and he’s still a good person. For example, he is distrustful of all Muslims (he believes most of them support terrorists), he thinks blacks are dumber but more atheletic overall, he thinks Indians (the one next to Pakistan) are smarter than average, etc. I have tried to argue him out of these, but he accepts my reasoning on the surface only; I travelled with him recently, and when he saw an Arab-looking fellow in the airport, he was scared shitless. Some things take a long time to erase. In some alternate universe, were my Dad a white American, I could see him possibly joining a white separatist movement due to his fear, and not some ulterior motive to slaughter all those different from him.

I will say that it’s been very informative to watch all the White Supremacists get kicked around. Lots of good arguments that I’ve been filing away in case they’re needed later. It’s hard to take them seriously when they’re so obviously outclassed (not to mention outnumbered) by the fine Dopers who’ve ripped their arguments to shreds.
I tried really really hard to critically examine my views on race, in light of all this recent kerfuffle - I just wondered, given the polarity of the views, and given how the folks at each end seem to percieve the opposition as absolutely and objectively wrong, I made a genuine effort to try to look at it from a white nationalist POV.
I can’t see it. Honestly I can’t. There’s just no particularly good reason to preserve such an arbitrary construct as ‘white nationality’.
Given the most recent thread by Salvador, I have had enough. I can’t imagine what the rationale could be for not banning the Nazi after that. The SDMB has consistently banned those who choose hate speech. Of all people, why does this ass wipe get a pass?
