Enough

I am trying to resubscribe. I don’t want to go through the crap of the previous few years will I / won’t I.

Okay…go through the process and there is a question about being outside USA and not needing a zipcode. I am outside the USA and can’t give a zipcode- it won’t process my payment.

Of course there is no easy link to ask why the default goes that way.

Can someone please explain in simple terms what an alien must do?

Thanks

If outside the USA you need to provide a Postal Code, Province and Country.

If your country doesn’t use Postal Codes… try making one up? I doubt the code has info on the Code structure for every country out there. It took my Spanish payment just fine.

Tried that- it didn’t accept it.

Try a bona fide US postal code. Whenever I get forms that are stupidly designed I use 20500 - the White House.

You are welcome to use my zip code back in Chicago, if you like. It’s 60640.

The Zip Code and Postal Code are different fields. Mine in Spain is 31500 and like I said, the form was a happy camper. Codes in the UK have letters… paging the brits, paging the brits have you guys had problems?

British postal codes have letters related to the nearest big town/city (I’m pretty sure).

My postcode here in Glasgow is G11 5XX, back home in Taunton it was TA1 9XX.

I reported the thread so a mod can move it to ATMB. I bet you’ll find a better answer there.

Off to ATMB.

Canadian postal codes have letters as well, in the pattern A9A 9A9 .

I’ll try to get TubaDiva’s attention here and she’ll help you out… but please be patient and understanding, Real Life has reared its ugly head and she’s got some distractions.

Let me ask Jerry about this. I’m sorry you had a problem, let’s find you a solution.

Jenny

Um, can I ask a stupid question here: What do the other Australian Dopers do? Oh Loaded Dog my dear . . . ?

Thanks folks appreciate the help. I’d hate to let the membership slip (and I can’t even give money away).

I’ll try again this morning with some of your suggestions.

I didn’t have issues in the previous years.

Thanks WhyNot and Dexter for moving the thread to a more appropriate spot.

Okay- went through this morning without a glitch. Thanks for the help guys.

I always use 90210 when needed. I’d guess 90% of non USers do

My actual postal code is “Dublin 6” aren’t we cute wth our ickle codes.

New Zealand has post codes as well. SDMB’s form accepted my old one, and accepted the new one with no probs.

Ours, BTW, are four-digit numerical. No letters (we ain’t big enough for that yet!)
