Enterprise, 2nd episode and I'm losing interest

This sentence is surprising to me. Do you perhaps mean “Wow, they’re bringing back Jeffrey Combs?”? Combs was a DS9 mainstay, playing the ferengi Brunt and the various incarnations of the vorta Weyoun. He also appeared in the Voyager episode Tsunkatse and as one of the cops in DS9’s Far Beyond the Stars. I’m pretty sure he showed up elsewhere as well.

P.S. But I too will be happy to see him.

Who did he play?

BTW, he sure looks like a dor…er, normal w/o makeup.

The link below has minor spoilers.

Speaking of backstory, if I consult my handy dandy Star Trek Chronology, the starships Archon, Horizon and Essex were tooling around in this era. Actually, the references are “100 years ago” from TOS, or “200 years ago” in TNG, which puts it in the 2160s (10 years from Enterprise). But roughly. Rounding.

So I’m looking forward to these nutty starships joining the fleet soon. Especially those goofballs on Horizon, with all their gangster books.

FYI, the Chronology places the Earth-Romulus War in the mid 2150s – within the scope of Enterprise, but probably not this year or next. As to your question – do you think B&B honestly care? Dare I mention “Dark Frontier” again?

That’s why the Suliban bother me. The producers can violate continuity and blame on the time-travelling Suliban.

Yeah, that might suck, but it would also suck to have the Romulan was without seeing them. Maybe they’ll keep their helmets on from “Balance of Terror”.

Speaking of continuity, I saw the satellite feed tonight of “Unexpected”. There are a couple of things that will suck.

Question: Did NCC 1701 have replicators, or just some kind of conveyor belt in the deli?

Romulan was = Romulan war, dammit.

SPOILERS for Tsunkatse below

IIRC, he played the unscrupulous fight promoter who coerced Seven to fight by threatening Tuvok.

“I can see my HOUSE from here!”

Oh, Jesus. Oh, JESUS. This MADE the entire episode.

My kids were staring and my daughter said “I have NEVER heard Daddy laugh like that!”

I liked it, I liked it! Still hate T’pol. Even when she’s being nice, she’s snotty. Keep the maudlin theme music, but please, please get rid of T’pol. And oh yes, Archer in the shower…nice, and the first scene too. About time we women got a little eye candy. Yummy.

Okay…

Nobody hacked off about food replicators?

No screaming about holo-decks?

I saw the Canadian feed Tuesday and I’ve been cowering waiting for the Trekker explosion.

^:)^

Is it getting just a * little bit * old having out heroes being virtually weaponless wimps? Snarled at by Klingons. Humph!

Boy, it took only four episodes before they wrote in the Holo-decks. I thought they would at least wait five.

Apparently, the Klingons will now have advanced holo technology almost two centuries before the Federation. And they got it from a race that we made friends with first.

On another point, I’m getting tired of the near-panic of the Enterprise officers every time something unexpected happens. Trip freaked out in the compression chamber, then wanted to bail right away. You’d think someone who wanted to meet new races would stick it out a while and not have to be talked into taking a nap. Something like this seems to happen in every episode.

Speaking of reset buttons, it would have been great if Trip had to carry to term and went the rest of the series as a wroking mother…

“Resequenced photons.”

Uh-huh.

Somebody please explain the following lines to me in terms that don’t make the writers look like total morons:

“This is as close to WATER as we could get.”???

and

“[The holodeck] uses ‘redirected photons.’”???
However:

“I can see my house from here!” had me on the floor. Worth all of the oddities in the episode.

Do they have to discover something in EVERY episode that reminds the viewers of TNG? Geez, let the show stand on its own a little.

All right. As could be expected, “ICSMHFH” had me howling, and my kiddies wondering “What’s the matter with dad?”

For a moment I thought I heard civil defense sirens going off around 7:25 yesterday. Then I realized it was just the collective moan when the introduced the holodeck.

Shitty episode but for the one line. The problems are too many to list. But I’m a geek with no life and I’ll probably keep watching.

Gripe Gripe Gripe…

I rather liked the episode it was tongue in cheek. If I wanted to nit pick I’d say why did archer just suddenly lurch off of the floor when the gravity failed? Or … forget it.

I’m tired of Nit picking I just want to enjoy the show and I did. I have not walked away from any of these episodes feeling cheated or annoyed. The minor things can pass.

As for T’Pol I really think she is getting better. Her delivery has that mix of non emotional matter of factness with a bit of that often ignored Vulcan arrogance.

Think about it not all Vulcan’s are going to be as loveable as Mr. Spock. There was a reason McCoy would insult Spock, he was sick of Vulcan arrogance. This has been mentioned by many human characters in each of the series. Remember that baseball episode of DS9 (yes I know it was goofy or some will say crap) but it shows that trait in Vulcan’s to come off as superior. T’Pol represents that.

I think people are mistaking her actions as being deliberately snotty, she just has her races own prejudices and feeling of moral superiority. This is the same attitude which bugs the other characters.

So, in a mere four episodes, we’ve managed to have the transporter and the holodeck reintroduced and playing crucial parts, despite the pre-series PR that stated that neither would be used.

Okay, so it’s back to the old school.

Hey, I liked this episode. Star Trek is at its best when it’s doing comedy.

What crucial part did the holodeck play?

Well, the transporter screwed up in Brave New World when the guy transported with leaves stuck in his face. Cool.

Yeah, the holodeck sucks.
The Klingons will probably ue it for war games and keep it a state secret for a few hundred yers.
