Personally, I can’t differentiate between accents. It has to be thick for me to notice it in the first place and state to state variances are totally lost on me.

Get this, I’m out in the middle of no where Friday (installing windows for PaceSetter), when I get a phone call from a distraught friend of mine. She drove up to her house and there wa a crew removing her roof, preparing for new shingles. Problem is, she wsn’t having her roof done. (!?!) She talked to the guys for a while (in very broken English) and got all the info she could from them. Me work partner and I drive back in town (we were over an hour out of town) and find the house that the roofers should’ve been at. Same exact address, wrong street by two blocks!
Well, we call up the roofing company listed on the sign and get a run around. But, they acknowledge the guys we had the info on were indeed their guys. So, call in the cops. ('Cause the crew bugged out just before we got there) Cops say not a crime, it’s a civil matter.
WTF?
Some one steals her roof and it’s not a crime??? SHIT!!!
So, we get a lawyer friend involved to put some heat on, and get her insurance company involved with all the info we have. Ins co says they’re going after those guys bigtime. 
Well, we take lots of photos of everything and get ins co permission to dry in the roof, because I had just finished a MAJOR remodel of her place, and rain is predicted for tomorrow (Sunday)
So… that’s what I (and about 10 other friends) do for fun this weekend.
A couple of us are charging the expenses (like shingles and decking and shit) and will get reimbursed from the ins co. (incl labor for all the guys involved) We’ll put shingles on Monday.
And, we had a cook out after wards tonight, along with a taped (from digTV) Willie Nelson concert, plus just a lot of playing around after it’s all finished. Like I said, gf fixes some strong ass drinks. Whooo!

The roofers were speaking in Spanish and English. I wish I had gotten there before they bugged out. I used to run a spanish speaking roofing crew a few years ago…
This Willie concert had ZZ Top, Wycliff Jean, Shania Twain, Ray Charles, John Meloncamp, Lyle Lovett, Elvis Costello, Leon Russle, Kris Kristoferson, Sheryl Crow, and more. It was Willie’s 70th birhtday special. REAL cool.
