Enterprise Car Rentals

This has been bugging me for a while…

In the TV ads for Enterprise, they show one of their cars driving down a wooded road, wrapped in paper and string.

Why?

Don’t they realize that that is dangerous?

Is it supposed to look like the car is gift-wrapped? It doesn’t - it looks more like the “brown paper package tied up with string” from Sound of Music.

Any ideas?
PS - if you’ve never seen it, here.

It because they will deliver the car to you.

Get it? It’s all wrapped up like a special delivery, or package, right to your front door.

Someone, somewhere, made some bucks coming up with that.

If you look carefully, you’ll notice that the windshield isn’t covered. The camera angle doesn’t let you see the rear, but I bet that’s not covered either, nor is the left side of the car.

So all that’s actually covered is the right side.

Just today (09-12-00) I had to drop my wifes Maxima off at the auto body shop (some 83 year old biddy side swiped her).
Enterprise met me at the shop and picked me up and took me to their office to get a rental. Just like they promise on t.v.! Very easy & convenient!
Uh, the Grand Prix they gave us was not wrapped in paper.

Sorry, I guess I’m missing the point here. You’re suggesting that there is something in a TV commercial that would be dangerous, impossible, or silly in real life?

… Man, I didn’t think that could happen.

Next you’re gonna tell me that Ronald McDonald isn’t real.

They always show the wrapped-up car from the side. Hoever, there are a couple of shots of it where you can see the front. The windshield is uncovered. Watch carefully next time.

…and you go out and do it (just like in the commercial), and you get injured-can you sue the advertiser??
I seem to recall that most car ads say something like (in fine print)…"do not attempt this with your vehicle…"or “closed course, professional driver”.
Check the ad out-if no disclaimer. let’s have us an accident and SUE!
Any lawyers out there want the case?-should be damn profitable…let’s get 'em for punitive damages as well!

Um, I always assumed it wasn’t being driven, but towed by a vehicle outside the shot.

Hey…my GF works for enterprise. It’s a damn good company to work for…within about 5 years, most employees make around 90K a year. Right now, she’s on the bottom rung, but it’s ok…she just picks people up all day!

If you look closely at the car, like RealityChuck mentioned, you can clearly see that the front windshield and driver’s side window are not covered by the paper.

The ad also shows them driving way out on a dirt road sort of area. Take note, they do not go everywhere to get you. As a matter of fact, the guy who got me told me that Im as far as they would go.
