Enterprise E² [spoilers]

Just saw my tape.
It’s a girl show. Yuck.
It’s a time travel show.
There is no reset button, though; not bad for time travel.
Doesn’t suck too badly.

Act II:
I’m annoyed at the alien’s name. Kaballans. Way to be subtle, morons!
The flashback effect is pretty neat.

Yeah! Prevent the attack in the first place! It’s a generational ship. Ah… “We aquired alien crew members [gestures to Archerchick]”

Elf Boy called young T’Pol Mother. “Humans and Vulcans have never been able to successfully reproduce.” Implying that it has been tried. I wonder who? Yeah, Tripp’s the daddy, big surprise there.
Again, only a 30 second commercial break
Act III:

“You’ve got your mother’s ears.”

“You died. When I was 14.” Hmmm…

Phlox and Amanda had 9 children. So, there’s the homage to Amanda Cutler.
AHHH!!! Old Vulcan! They did a good job on her. And good subtle touches.

Hoshi, Mayweather, and Reed discuss their future love lives. Funny bit.

An alternative… T’Pol speaking of what T’Pol did for many years is a cool touch.

Elf Boy would a much better captain than that brooding, petulant, whining Quantum.

So… they’re planning a pirate attack themselves, the little buggers.

Act IV:

Married in a traditional Vulcan ceremony. Interesting scene about the alternate possibilities.

So, the kids have free run of the ship. A typical trek problem. You shot Daddy!

NX vs NX!

Good strategy. Beam off peices of their ship.

Climax:

Ah… old NX missed the probe. So that’s why history didn’t change in that regard.

So, double Enterprises from now on?

T’Pol meets T’Pol. Ya know, the old NX’s database should prove pretty valuable in the long run. T’Pol remains emotional for life. Trust T’Ripp. Follow your heart. Good scene. I approve.
Typical nebula interference, a Trek staple. Playing as tho it’s a reflection was interesting tactic. They have a tractor beam!?! Finally, momentum saves the day! So… momentum continues even in a wormhole. Interesting.

Denoument: Paradox discussion. I approve.

I approve of this episode. It wasn’t really time travel (except to set it all up.) The old NX’s crew was very believable. I liked the reactions. I really liked Elf Boy. Good job on old T’Pol, too.

Why are they continuing to write Quantum as a freak? He’s the only one in this ep that still looked forced and unbelievable.

Next week’s attack on the Sphere has potential.

They really dropped the ball on this one thing:

No mention of sharing the 100 yrs of info with Quantum’s ship. That could’ve had real potential.

No NIFSTD contest this week, btw. Couldn’t make any connections for one. Better luck next week.

Still have the Create a Wallpaper contest going, tho. Anyone?

Since I haven’t seen it yet, I haven’t read anything in this thread.

All I want to know is:

Will we at least get to see Chef’s descendants? And will there be any Chef-eating Chefs?

Sorry, Viva, no Chefs of any sort, past, present or future.

The time travel through the portal reminded me of Andromeda in the black hole.

hee hee

Old T’Pol (to Young T’Pol): “Look, stop being ornery and just go bang Trip!”

So… who thinks 117 year old Enterprise will show up in the season finale? Are they still around? or are they temporally defunct?

Find out in 3 weeks. Same Bat Time! Same Bat Channel!

Am I the only one who thought the present-day crew would end up on the older but non-crippled Enterprise? I mean, if all the older ship needed was some plasma injectors that can apparently be easily transplanted, it seems like a pretty good idea. At the very least, they could’ve loaned the present-Enterprise some torpedoes or something.

Of course, no Trek thread is complete without minor nitpicks, so here goes: when asked about the circumstances of his father’s death, Lorian says he shouldn’t discuss the future. The thing is, he’d be discussing the fairly distant past; from Tripp’s point of view, Lorian’s father died some 90-100 years ago.

On a totally unrelated note, you can always tell when a ship is from the future by all of the crap stapled onto the hull that doesn’t have any discernable function.

I thought he looked uncannily like My Favorite Martian, from the original 1960s TV series.

Not as bad as thought it was going to be (I usually hate time travel episodes). I liked the way the writers left if very ambiguous as to whether or not the future Enties are still allive:

Does Lorien redeem himself and sacrafice the ship and crew this time around?

But then, why do we still remember them…?

Okay, I’m posting my comments without reading the rest of them first…

I’d like to have Old T’Pol’s wall hanging and quilt. They’re a lot more attractive than Young T’s stuff.

Why are T’Pol and Reed the only ones who can be bothered to shower? Her sensitive Vulcan nose must be going crazy from all those steenkin’ hyoo-mons.

Somehow, I can hear her saying, “I did not have sexual relations with that human–Commander Tucker…”

Hey, there was no reset! 'Sbout time.

It was good to see that Karyn Archer didn’t inherit her great grandfather’s bitchy gene.

I liked the weird photography during Lorien’s recounting of what had happened.

It was also a relief to see that T’Pol is not just going to get over her Trellium binge.

Ah, another Hoshi and Trav scene…but they abandoned Reed, the poor eunuch, after he told them he never had a wife or kids. Is he a leper or something? Past, present, or future, he just can’t seem to get any.

Good scenes with Trip and T’Pol, and with Old and Young T’Pol.
And now on to the rest of the thread…

I just said I was going to post my comments without reading the rest of them first…Ooh, it sounds like a dangling modifier, but it’s actually one of those temporal fluxes, you know. After all, I did spend some quality time with Matt “Daniels” Winston at a convention and I think he rubbed off on me.

’plant, what is a girl show? What is the meaning of this?

It didn’t suck. Well, maybe the science does, but I rarely know the difference.

In this house we obey the laws of temporal dynamics!!

Can anyone figure a decent explanation why this episode ended with crew remembering the experience (and keeping the new and improved technology) and the aforementioned DS9 episode ended with the world of the decendents (thanks to future widower Odo) never existing in the first place?

Other than “just 'cause they wanted that way”, I mean.

Not to worry. 22nd Century medicine has completely wiped out the scourge of Cooties.

Yes … wielding kitchen-knife-cutting kitchen knives.

Nah, he’s not a leper, he’s just one of the many unlucky males on board. They did say that Enterprise only has 1/3 as many female crew members as it does male crew members.

Sort of like the general population here in the Silicon Valley.

Mrs. Plant likes it. Trip(p) talking nice stuff “I care about you” to T’Pol.
Relataionships. Babies, who married who. (whom?)

I always thought Reed was playing on the other team.

Liked the episode. Really hope the other ship makes it. I liked them.

BUT! If Enterprise got thrown 117 years into the past, way before the nightmare with the Xindi began, why didn’t they just go find some Xindi and make friends? “Hi! We’re Humans. We’re kinda new to the Expanse, can we be friends?..” then a century later the Xindi might not be so quick to believe nasty grey lady.
(cause it wouldn’t fit the plot line, I know) Couldn’t they have just had some throwaway line to explain why that didn’t work?
