Okay, I’m starting this one just to start it. Haven’t seen it yet but it looks intense. The whole mimetic sim/clone angle could be exploited for some very disturbing material. Hope they deliver on it.
“Is this truly the only earth I can live on?” --temp worker, David Rees’ Get Your War On
“This is the most Trekish episode I’ve seen of this series.”
-Mrs. Plant
She speaks, of course, of TOS
I thought it would suck, but it was very good. The science sucks, of course.
Where are the crew quarters? The rust colored material covering the hull covers Archer’s window. Later we see the stuff covering a window, but particles flaking off and “floating” by the window. WTF? Is the stuff on the glass, or on a nacelle viewed from the window?
The model breaks the nacelle off, and the next shot of Enterprist has the nacelle on the same side hidden from view by dust.
Did T’Poll and Sim do the big nasty? He’s limping when he goes into sick bay.
Spokesque stuff: torpedo burial, reaching into a plasma filled hole to save the ship. Not in that order, or course.
“This stuff is an unidentified material that we know nothing about. That is why I am letting you hold it in your bare hands.”
How the hell can you have an unidentified element? They, or the places for them, are on the periodic table.
The periodic table only workth periodically in the 22nd and a half thenthury.
Thanks for clearing that up.
What makes this appear “Trek-ish” versus other episodes or series?
A mutant Elle MacPherson is in this episode? Wow!
Oh no  Trip’s pregnant! … Again!
I hope the episode delves into what Trip thinks of this procedure. “We the clones who are about to die salute you” kind of thing or do they get scared for being cheated of a long life. And in the end, how does Trip deal with his clone(s) having to give up a life for him? And does Trip contemplate how much of himself (and his old self) he really is. Touches on the old transporter delimma - are you really yourself after trasnport? The episode could end with Trip posing these questions and then going into The Thinker pose as the credits roll. And if the issues are raised, I hope they follow up on them as subplots in subsequent episodes.
I can understand wanting Trip to have moral dilemmas about having this clone but remember, not everyone would care. I certainly wouldn’t.
What is it you tune into Enterprise to see?
I like science fiction for new scientific ideas and extrapolations, and to see twists on social, physical, and psychological issues that make me question my beliefs and ideas.
Plus the panda, but that goes without saying.
I meant not everyone would care about having a clone and the percieved moral repercussions.
So far as the other goes, I tune in just to be entertained. I like watching characters develop and situations resolved… everything else, including messages about society is just a bonus.
Uh, oh. As a biologist, this episode will probably drive me crazy (nothing new for Trek, but good to see it coming)
To be forewarned is to have four arms.
Tars!
Is the book Sim is reading from one of the ERB Martian novels, or War Of The Worlds?
Memory in DNA is featured in this week’s Bad Science.
Dunno, will have to watch to find out (will probably tape episode and watch later)
This is important, dammit. Consult crewman Daniels time travel thingie.

carnivousplant, Tars probably already knows! :dubious: It’s simple, really.
You see, I’m sure he’s contacted Gary Seven. Seven’s benefactors acquiesed to Tars’ plea to know what the book is, but not as Tars expected. That’s why his simple reply took 2 hours.
Seven’s benefactors sent Tars back in time to 1986. There Tars was able to locate Kirk and Spock when they came to get the whales. His knowledge of the future convinced them he was a time traveler and they offered him a ride forward in time in the Romulan Warbird.
Tars used the Starfleet Database Scotty put in the Warbird. He located the starship logs from the historical NX-01 missions and accessed the video surveillance logs. There he was able to zoom in on the book jacket. He then wrote a letter and the moment he posted it Seven had it in the future and pulled him back to the present.
Simple, really … Is it any wonder? … :dubious:
Your Honor, if it please the Court…
-It does.
I would like to point out the historical inconsistencies of the defense’s account of the murder.
-Continue.
The defense states that he knew nothing of the condition of the “Humanity” of the clone, yet, it was he who first petitioned the Supreme Galactic Overlord for the recognition of clones as “Humans” with all the priviledges and responsiblities that such a defifnition attaches to said creature. Yet, he is a Wookie. This does not make sense.
[extrememly loud sounds of surprise and astonishment, with an Evinruud outboard motor thrown in for harmonic balance]
-[banging gavel] Order in the Court! Order in the Court! One more outburst like that and I’ll declare this a closed hearing. Counsel?
Yes?
-The Wookie Defense is not valid on the Planet of the Seven Stars. Invoking it as a prosecutorial device calls into question your qualifications before this Court.
Your Honor. If I may…?
Waiter, I’ll have whatever he’s drinking.
Why, yes i do know. I just can’t tell you, because of the time travel paradox, which will make me cease to exist and create and alternate 1985 where Biff Tannen controls Hill Valley.
All right, i’m travelling back 3 months ago to kick this writer’s ass…
