You guys haven’t even seen the episode and you are digressing…
Pre-emptive action to defend America against suckiness.
Isn’t Archer Canadian or something?
Shatner, Nimoy and Doohan are Canadian, Jingo Breath.
You mean they are Freedomadian!
Of course, my Green friend.
?
Hey, why is everyone smiling and nodding and slowly backing away? And who are those guys in white suits with the tranq gun?
Okay, I just saw it for real…
Boring!
I’ve never really liked any of that Klingon HomeWorld crap anyways, so no surprise to me that I wasn’t entertained by this show.
One bright spot: I liked the Klingon defense dude’s portrayal of his part. Who was the actor?
Quiet, NoCLue, you’re frightening the livestock!
J.G. Hertzler, who played General Martok on DS9 was the advocate Kolos.
Next week: All Travis, all the time.
(It’s called Horizon)
What was with the spelling of this weak’s ep?
(yes, i said WEAK!)
He also was
General Stark
on “General Hospital”. I didnt know they had Klingons!
Shhh!
If the tarq quits giving milk, what will we feed Tars in the morning?
Damn!
The title on the satellite slate was “Judgement” but in the program it was “Judgment”.
Shakespeare was right…
Kill all the Klingons!
Oops! Shatner and Nimoy are Jewish, Shatner and Doohan Canadian. I guess I’m confused by the Shul in New Hampshire…I got lost once and walked into Canada looking for a 7-11.
Well, I for one didn’t think it was boring. I thought it was one of my favorite episodes so far. But I actually like Enterprise in general, so I guess my opinion doesn’t count for much.
Anyway, I think that the Kingon politics is great. Those were some of the high points of TNG, I thought, and now we get to see it some more. Space battles too! What more could you want? It also was dissimilar enough from Star Trek VI to satisfy me - Archer wasn’t framed so much as disputing the charges, and the focus was on the trial, not the defendant. I do wish he’d had one of those handheld translation microphones, though.
This episode was called “Judgment”, which is how we spell it in the USA.
“This is Captain Jonathon Archer of the battle cruiser Enterprise. Death to the Empire!”
A friend and I were eating at a Chinese restaurant one day, and the conversation turned to Jews. Probably because I had been doing a Sammy Davis Jr. impersonation to the beweildered waitress.
Anyways, he made the broad statement (no, he wasn’t impersonating a chick), that in any country or culture you go into, you will find Jews, either by ethnicity or religion.
I said, “Nuh uh!”
He said, “Uh huh!”
I said, “Nuh uh!”
He said, “Uh huh!”
I don’t know why you say goodbye, I say hello. Hello, hello.
Well, I said, “Buddy, I sincerely doubt that the average Chinese city has any Jews in it. Maybe not in any of China.” Obviously, I was influenced by the surroundings.
He said, “I bet they do!”
So, I decided to ask the waitress, using my Sammy Davis Jr. voice and mannerisms (couldn’t stop now without being rude).
I asked, “Ma’am, my friend and are wondering, are there any Chinese Jews?”
She looked at me blankly.
I feared perhaps I had offended her. (I sincerely hope I’m not offending any of my fellow Dopers.)
She wandered off and I was sure I had hurt her feelings. So, I was going to apologize for being an ass.
Then she comes back and informs us, “We have Apple juice and Tomato juice, but no Chinese juice.”
Taught me to try and impersonate a dead American celebrity to someone for whom English is a second language.
Disclaimer: I mean no disrespect for anyone who is either Chinese or Jewish.
FYI: Did you know? The Vulcan hand sign is a Jewish symbol (of something…)?
I saw Sammy Davis Jr. and his wife accept the 1st Annual (and last ever) Disco Life Style Award. He cried.
Mediocre and predictable. Geez, are the good guys ever going to civilize those barbarians? I’ve never liked any Trek episode featuring the Klingons. Depressing. Maybe it’s the makeup. Archer was preachy, as usual. It wasn’t clear to me how Malcolm and Archer got out of there in one piece. I expected a fire fight during the escape but suddenly, somehow, they’re back on Enterprise and everything’s hunky dory. Next week’s looks like it might be decent – Travis finally gets his chance to do some acting.
Canadian Trek Actors: Shatner, Nimoy, Doohan.
Nimoy was born just north (I think) of where I am now. In dun dun dun dunnnnnn Vulcan! Tee hee…
There are Jews in China and have been since the days of the Silk Road. Mostly in cities like Shanghai. I believe that there was recently a thread on their treatment during WWII.
A good episode, a bit derivative of STVI. I also didn’t liek the implication that Klingon militarism was a recent development in Archer’s time. While I realize that militarism in a culture can wax and wane, I’ve always had the impression that the Klingons have always been a warrior culture.
Still haven’t seen it yet.
Shatner’s Jewish? Nimoy’s Canadian? I feel so disillusioned.
