The chat thingy was a real gnab gib. Such banal drivel. The moderation over there sucks! I’m sure many much more interesting questions could’ve been chosen, but instead they made it like a talk show. Bah! A pox on them maroons. Not a single hard or indepth question. Nothing about Porthos or Panda made it through. No Nakid Hoshi questions. Nothing about Decon or Chef.
Maybe when we’ve had a chance to see the episode we can comment seriously(assuming it is any good). Until then, i claim this thread in the name of Shirtless Hoshi!
I liked the teaser. The mix of species (or phylums?) in that Xindi council room was impressive.
Some other impressions:
Dark.
Some definite attempts at showing the hard edge. Quantum setting waterboy (malcolm) straight. Tripp’s nightmares. The Brazillike mining camp technology. The finger.
More in a bit.
Okay, nice little character development bit – Malcolm jealous over the other military team on board. You’re supposed to be working together. Get over it, Malcolm.
Interesting – I presume in the opening scene all those different looking critters were Xindi? Meaning that they have all sorts of variations – perhaps just racial differences in their world. Agree with c-plant – a little stretching it on the biology.
Haven’t reached the “T’Pol’s boobies” scene alluded to earlier.
Sewage takes on a whole new meaning when it’s from about a dozen different spiecies. 31, actually.
the predictable Navy vs marines mentality rears its ugly head. let’s hope they don’t use that angle too much.
Hoshi’s little part was cute. They seem to like Jolene’s nipples this time around. Waiting for the major Panda.
The mine foreman is well played.
sewage mixed with plasma residue equals yuck.
Probably strays a little bit from Roddenberry’s original vision, but…
Space Marines! Oh yeah! Let’s see Malcolm’s team do that. Especially that space marine chick going one on one and kicking some alien ass. I think I’m in love…
Just glad they left Private Hudson at home… “Game over man!”
So, which space marine will Hoshi hook up with this season? Duluth?
I spent the whole episode wondering about the pointy thing. They make us wait till the end for the good part. It wasn’t bad (just wait for zombie Vulcans) its much darker and angry feeling. Plus the theme is much much better. If the level of T’pol nudity stays up, I’ll be sitting pretty.
I liked the Marine’s rescue scene. The sniper takedown was cool.
Panda for the women, too.
“It was a planet.” cool line, esp considering what The Bug said.
Overall impression: Wouldn’t work as a stand alone episode. Requires you to already know the major characters and their motivations. So, new viewers may not catch some of the deep things.
For continnuing viewrers, it builds nicely from the last 3rd of last season and sets up an obvious arc. B&B are keeping their word about that. The dark tone works for me. And the violence, hatred, mistrust, and worry comes across loud and clear.
Rating: for a non Trekker: 6 at best. Too much unsaid or alluded to. For a Trekker: 8. The tone is set. Can TPTB keep us in it?
Yeah, it has been since the very beginning. You really didn’t notice until now?
I thought this was a pretty good episode, but more importantly, I think this is going to be a really good season. At least it seems like they have a good idea where they’re going with this.
I just bought a new flat screen (no, not a flat TV, flat screen) TV (Sharp) today. I never noticed it on my old (realy old) Zenith.
I didn’t pay much attention to the song, was getting beer. The guitar seemed a little different. Any thoughts?
