Enterprise: Zero Hour spoilers.

Succubi.

What kind of hippopotami?

So, um. What’s everyone up to? Enjoying summer? Missing Enterprise? I know it’s only been a few weeks (a month?) but it’s a fair question.

I’ve been watching DS9 on Spike* lately. Good stuff.

*Speaking of Spike, I’ve also been getting into Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It might become my second favorite fandom. Anyone else a fan?

With DS9 I find anything to do with Bajorans to be very very boring.
And cripes, they stay in the same place and let the adventure come to them? I want my enterprise back.

Hey,
I finished finals week, went to San Diego, came back, got sick, got better, mom injured her neck badly…so I have been caregiving a lot but she is very mobile and I don’t have to do anything that would be unpleasant for either of us.
And, ummmm…I got a ticket for speeding and have to go to traffic school. I already paid the fine. Now that I’m driving more carefully, everyone is zipping around me–of course.
ENT should show up again in September with 24 episodes ordered for the 4th season.

T minus 51

and counting…

Enjoying work (prgramming) … playing with the kids; keeping Ryan from swatting the baby … going to Arizona to get a used green diesel Bug-car … adding to the “Finish the Science Fiction Story” thread … waiting for Season 4.

While I hate the “Evil Alien Nazis” twist, I still have that childlike glee wondering how Manny can pull off something interesting with it.

How old is Ryan?

Juggling appointments, working to help place students in the appropriate English classes, prepping for fall, running umpteen errands and more.

Well, if anyone can extricate something good from the evil alien Nazi deal, it’s Manny Coto.

I’m looking for an apartment. Seems two bedrooms places run around $500 a month here. I should be able to swing that.

Should be fun trying to move into a place with absolutely no furniture, no bed, and no dishes though.

Ryan is 2-1/3. He has some developmental delays similar to autism due to a duplication of the long arm of Chromosome 15 between q11.2 and q12 (I’m sure you’ve heard of it :)). He’s not talking yet and is becoming more investigative, but he’s easily frustrated. It’s hard to tell whether he is jealous of the attention given to the baby or is just trying to play with the ‘toy’. But he seems to be attention seeking and acting up gets him attention. Thank you for asking!

Maybe you should look for a furnished pair of pants. Maybe one with good plumbing and a nice view.

Too bad you can’t just modulate the genome input by bombarding selected neucleotides with quantum polarity bursts. That’s gotta work, right?

When I was really young, like Texas, I met a family who had this one kid that could draw like a mother fu(watch your mouth!)er, but didn’t seem ‘normal’ (no offense meant, just remembering from a six year old’s perspective) like us other freaks. His mom tells us he’s autistic.

Huh.

For years I thought it was just a funny way saying artistic, and that all people with that same problem were referred to by this oddly accented word just to signify that they were really good at something, but otherwise retarded.

Well! Imagine my epiphany when I came across the correct definition. Made so much more sense than thinking it was some affected accent of a regular word.

Of course, now that I’ve known an autistic fellow for some 3 decades, and have been able to research things for friends, family, and that darn cat, I know quite a bit about the condition and related things. Still no expert, I’ll tell you whut! I mean, I didn’t know about Asperger’s Syndrome (sp?) till a few months back.

Anyways… they have Coke in those little glass bottles where you live?

no, I had never heard of the chromosomal matters you described here. Good to have the info, though. The behavior sounds pretty normal for all kids that age. I’ve babysat quite a bit.

Why, yes, they do indeed have Coke in little glass bottles here, but you gotta know where to look.

My car is belching smoke.

I was reading English placement tests today and thought I’d share a gem:

“Without Jesus, I would be nothing but a breathing, consuming, excreting set of minerals and proteins.”

[not to mention an ug-lee bag of most-lee wa-ter.]

Speaking of “Zero Hour”…

I finally found a rare video sales outlet online that has copies of the 1950s movie Zero Hour that I could buy. This is the movie that Airplane! is based on, and I’ve been wanting to see it for nearly two decades now.

I dated a pair of pants with odd plumbing once…

Nice view? I already have that. Look at the location field again, dude.

While I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting the lady, that was my point exactly.

Just my sense of humor. Identifying this particular genetic trait was only made available a couple of years ago. There’s no telling how many people through the years have had undiagnosed genetic syndromes and were just classified as slow.

Well, duh! That’s the first thing we tried! Oh, and, important safety tip - use the correct polarity. We had it reversed at first and turned him into a lemur (at least he looked like a lemur) - But we reversed that and he’s muuuuch better now.

:dubious:

It seemed to me like you were implying the view was less than stellar and that the roof leaked at my current residence but okay. I accept your explanation. ;j

Aesiron: {cuffs Corner}
Corner: Please don’t belt me! I would never besmirch the good name of your pants!
Aesiron: Aww, button it, Case!
Corner: I’m pleating with you; can’t you cut me some slack?

Well, it isn’t like purple polyester sweats are the most flattering form of fashion one can choose to live in but considering its perks, I think I can handle the funny looks I get.*****

*In addition to the ones I’d get anyway, I mean.
