I would say Jimmy Fallon. He seems to be greatly liked by celebrities.
Will Farrell i would have said a while back when he got over exposed, but i think people are laying off him.

I say Kiss or Nickleback. Red hot pokers for both of 'em!
Neil Diamond.
Harvey Weinstein C’mon… you gotta know he still has friends all over Hollywood, even if it’s in private.
If you want someone who is still in the public eye… Woody Allen?
If I’m understanding this correctly:
Way, way back, Rudy Vallée was adored by the American public and hated by everyone who worked for him. He picked fistfights with certain people, for example.
Axl Rose or Dave Mustaine.
Mel Gibson seems to have a strangely large number of celebrity friends.
I think Tom Cruise would fit this.
Everyone I have ever read about who has dealt with him, just seems to think the world of the guy. He’s nice to everyone he works with, I’ve heard.
Yet, the Scientologist connection has seriously tarnished his public image. Even among people who will see his movies, even enjoy them, he seems to be thought very poorly of because of his association with Scientology. I’m not defending Scientology, it’s clearly a bullshit cult and scam, so I’m not sure if it’s ethically proper to say that Tom Cruise is “a good guy”. But a lot of people seem to think he acts like one to them.
Then again, he is an actor.
Never heard of Fallon being dislike by non celebs. What’s the reason for that ?
I know a lot of people dislike Leno because of the situation with Conan being fired and Leno getting the Tonight show again.
I’m confused. The general populace hates Jimmy Fallon? Or am I misunderstanding the question. Or maybe I just don’t know what the general populace thinks, but I love the guy.
Maybe the first poster got Fallon mixed up with Leno?
Fallon came under quite a bit of flak when he invited Donald Trump on the show during the last election and tossled his hair. A number of people remarked that his doing that humanized the Donald, and helped cement his victory at the polls.
Sounds like pfui to me though.
It is true he has a great reputation on sets. It’s one reason he’s had a lot of success. If you are difficult to work with, they never work with you.
Kubrick had no interest in celebrities. He’s worked with Jack Nicholson and had a good experience, but he frequently cast new faces. Same talent, less money and less hassle. He worked with Tom Cruise because people told him Cruise was good to work with.
I don’t know what rock you guys are living under but the general public hating Jimmy Fallon was widely accepted and it was his talk show that seemed to make that go away somewhat. People hated his acting career because he’s a terrible actor who is constantly breaking character and laughing when he’s not suppose to. Family Guy had a joke early on all about how bad of an actor Jimmy Fallon was and how much people hated him.
Oh, I guess I just only really know him as a talk show host. I mean, I’ve seen him in Almost Famous and the occasional 30 Rock episode, but have no clue as to his reputation beyond that. I think he does a fine job with his talk show, and don’t see what there is to hate about him. ETA: Oh, I guess he was on SNL, too. I wasn’t around in the US for those years, so I missed him.
I wouldn’t say I hate Fallon, but I was never impressed by him. He was constantly breaking character on SNL which shows a lack of discipline (he wasn’t even a stand out character on SNL like Farley, Farrell or McKinnon. Fallon was a perfectly forgettable SNL character).
Then he lands the top talk show gig on TV with essentially no experience, and his interactions seem very forced and phony. To me his success just seemed unearned in a lot of ways.
I like Jimmy Fallon. He made me laugh on SNL, and he has a lot of entertaining bits on TTS. Not seeing the hate, though Colbert has overtaken him in the ratings.
No. Strictly speaking, I think the OP is asking for someone who is an insider, respected by pros a lot more than they are popular.
I’ll go with Bobcat Goldthwaite. Loved by his peers - a best friend of Tom Kenny and Robin Williams - but hated by the general public. Misunderstood as a persona at best.
I think there are a lot of pro wrestlers who fit this niche perfectly. All the bad guy “heel” wrestlers who are actually liked and respected in the locker rooms.
Seem to remember a few from the 80s with that reputation, but there are probably posters here who know a lot more about that scene than I who can provide some examples.
People hate Bobcat Goldthwaite?
