In the metro Detroit area there used to be a chain of diner-style family restaurants called ‘Ram’s Horn’ (still are a few around, I think). To the best of my knowledge, they never served mutton, and certainly not the keratinous outgrowths of such.
Gotta agree about Outback’s quality going downhill. Like you, we had a gift card (from my wife’s retirement) and I ordered a ribeye. It was like eating a small hamburger steak, but without the flavor. Blech.
Or bees?
Outback Restaurants are always inside the city limits and not in the Outback.
Their restrooms aren’t even Outback.
They have those scones at the 7-11 Diner in Vernal Utah.
There’s another reason to go back To Vernal, besides going to see the Dinosaurs.
I haven’t been back to Vernal for ages.
Plus when we were there the little shop attached to the Diner had orange plush versions of Dinah.
We were there in 2017? I think. Still magnificent. That building with that wall of fossils. The Museum in Vernal is excellent, too.
The scones above sound like malasadas.
Also come with various fillings and toppings. MMMMM off to Leonards for a couple (of thousand calories).
Two of the most authentic ethnic restaurants in my town chose names of dishes they do serve, but are the most boring things on their menus — the one thing I’ve never ordered.
One is “Burritos House” (sic). What they really serve are great, authentic tacos (including lengua, cabeza, and al pastor).
The other is “Golden Eggrolls.” What they really serve is tasty Vietnamese dishes like pho.
I used to pass by a place called “Tommy’s #1 Chili Burgers” and their chiliburgers had to be about #15 on my list of Chili burgers I’ve ever eaten. They were WAY too greasy.
The Owl Tavern, not any owl on the menu, but they did have a great green chili burger.
huh tommys is usually good but i haven’t been to one in years and years …
