LOL.
Yeah, just a bunch of his closest henchmen.
True - his scandals are all over the place.
“You want some hurricane relief? Well, I’ve got this little project that I need you to sign off on…”
“Golly, you’re a swell guy. How about we reduce the rent on the land that you lease for a parking lot. What do you think, does $1 a year sound good to you?”
It was a bit of a joke, but seriously - a genuine effort at bipartisanship can go a long way.

It can, but not in this case. He tried it and it didn’t work.

No, it has nothing to do with her. I’d never heard of the guy before. It’d reflect very poorly on any candidate who brought it up. I’m sure Fox and talk radio will try, though.
I thought it would take them longer to exhaust all the old chestnuts (e.g. “Whitewater! Whitewater!”, “She’s one of them thar lezbeeeun preverts!”, etc), use up all the new-chestnut seed crop (e.g. “Benghazi! Bengghhhhaaaazzzziiii!!”), and resort to scraping up stuff nobody can even identify (e.g. “Epstein Who?”).

I know it’s superficial, but Jindal looks like a boy who put on his dad’s suit. It’s impossible to take him seriously.
And Christie looks like a boy who put on ALL of his dad’s suits. He’s a slob, a liar and a bully.
Also: Epstein is dead.

Exactly. Starting from the very beginning. The stimulus legislation he sent to Congress in early 2009 was nearly 40% tax cuts, in order to placate Republicans. This wasn’t in response to GOP objections to an earlier version of the bill; this was what he sent them to begin with. (That was a tactical blunder, but that’s a discussion for another day.) With the Affordable Care Act in 2009, he wasted several months negotiating with the Gang of Six that included guys like Mike Enzi of Wyoming, before having to throw in the towel and pass a bill with Dem votes only. And he bent over backwards in negotiations over the budget and the debt ceiling after the GOP took control of the House in 2011.
To Velocity: I’m really tired of hearing suggestions from people on the other side of the political divide from me that Obama hasn’t sufficiently attempted to engage the GOP. He’s gone every last extra mile in this department, and when the GOP still gives him zero votes, somehow it’s his fault. I’m sick and tired of hearing how back in 2009, he ‘ramrodded’ Obamacare through Congress with only Dem votes, when he waited around for months to give Republicans a chance to say what they wanted in the bill in return for their votes.
Anyone who suggests that Obama hasn’t gone far enough in his efforts to work with Republicans over the past six years should be laughed out of any political debate on this board.

Also: Epstein is dead.
And Guildenstern?

Exactly. Starting from the very beginning. The stimulus legislation he sent to Congress in early 2009 was nearly 40% tax cuts, in order to placate Republicans. .
It’s not bipartisanship to tell the other side what they want and claim you are compromising.
If Republicans wrote a SS privatization bill that would increase benefits for those choosing not to participate in the private accounts, would this be seen as a compromise measure to you?
Hey, I’ve got a fantastic idea! Let’s write a disarmament treaty for Russia based on proposals they may have supported in the past without consulting them and present it to them as a take it or leave it measure! We’re compromising!

When you’re presenting that as the starting point for discussion, fuck yeah!
Waymore, what we see in this thread is how the extreme elements of the US left react to Hilary scandals (furious denial and frantic attempts to change the subject). How the moderates react cannot be determined from the SDMB, because there are so few.
Personally, Epstein will be off the radar in a news cycle or two, and it is more about Bill being a sleazebag who hangs out with other sleazebags, and we kind of knew that already.

Shodan

Hey, Waymore. The above is a solid example of modern American conservative reality-denial, in case you’d find it useful.
Well, we’ve heard from the Clinton fan club upthread. (Gag.)
Oh, good lord, this needs more press. Let’s drag this out for everyone to see, so that those two can finally go and die under a rock somewhere.
Seriously, look what the Democrats did to Anthony Weiner and John Edwards, who at least weren’t frequenting a brothel with underage sex slaves.
If you defend the Clintons to me after this, you’re just a sick little fan.

Republicans controlled the House 6 out of 8 years under Bush. They controlled the Senate 4.5 years.
Democrats controlled the House 2 years out of 8 under Obama. They controlled the Senate 6 years.
But the Democrats are not an organized political party.

Excuse me. I am an extreme element of the USA left. I hate those boll weevil Clintons a lot, and I am grateful to be made aware of more examples of their heinousness. Don’t call those sycophants and fan-creatures extreme leftists, they’re just followers.

Read you loud and clear. It’s mind blowing that a former president and husband of a potential futute president can pal around with somebody who commits sex crimes on the regular and folks react by saying it’s a tempest in a tea cup ginned up by talk radio and Fox News.
I’m curious how many of these people have demonized Bill Cosby, even though he’s never been convicted of a crime. If the Bills Clinton and Cosby were fishing buddies would they be singing a different tune?

But the Democrats are not an organized political party.
For reals?

So what you’re saying is that Bill Cosby is a better person than Bill Clinton, because Bill Cosby hasn’t been convicted of sexual assault, and Bill Clinton was seen with someone before (and not after) that third party was convicted of sexual assault.
Interesting. By that logic, OJ Simpson was a better person up through 2007 than his friends were in 1995.

No, I’m saying that by all available evidence, Cosby is a scumbag. But, it’s all based off he said/she said in the media. Yet, nobody has trouble condeming him.
Epstein is a convicted sex offender. Clinton knows this, yet hangs out with him. Folks in this thread dismiss that as if it’s nothing. You don’t see the flaw in that?
