ER episode ''Responsible Parties'' (5-13-99)

OK, so this is almost three years old, but I saw it for the first time last week.

One of the stories is about a car accident in which one of the accident victims (of a driver with a BAC of 0.09, who had relatively mild injuries) is severly burned, and is not expected to make it. They are able to get to his parents, who are en route, so that he can at least speak to them. That was critical, because they would be putting him on a ventilator thereafter, and would be unable to speak for the remainder (days) of his life.

Another passenger was injured, but was expected to recover.

But the mystery was that there was a fourth person involved (I think the burn victim and two other people were in one car. The DUI guy in the other). All through the episode, it is repeated that “We haven’t found the other passenger yet.”

When the parents of the missing girl show up, they are mortified that she had not been found (now hours later).

I took from that that she probably was cremated in the inferno. (The DUI guy, to his credit, had dragged the other two passengers from the car he had struck).

If anyone else remembers this episode, is that what you inferred?

Weren’t they on the way to the prom or some other formal dance-type-occasion?

Just thought I’d give you this link. It has all indepth recaps of all the episodes. Wish they would update it though. www.digiserve.com/er/erdex.html

Wow. I was just about to post the exact same link. So instead, I’ll just hijack and say, “Yeah, Darby, they’re two episodes behind! WTF?” I keep waiting for them to blast that Memento-esque backwards episode.
