ER - How do you rate the characters?

Of the current title characters:[ul]
[li]Dr. Mark Greene - The cement of the show. The show ends if he leaves.[/li][li]Dr. John Truman Carter, III - He started to get stale after he became a full-fledged doc. The stabbing and drug problems have renewed his character.[/li][li]Dr. Kerry Weaver - Tough character. Sometimes over-officious, sometimes bends the rules. It’s tough to tell what side she’ll be on.[/li][li]Dr. Elizabeth Corday - Sexy redhead with British accent! 'Nuff said![/li][li]Dr. Robert “Rocket” Romano - The guy you love to hate. I started to like him after his breakdown after losing Lucy. I hate him again after his dealings with Benton.[/li][li]Dr. Luka Kovac - Obvious heartthrob, but they’ve had problems finding who he’s going to hook up with. (I think his self-defense killing of the mugger is a link back to his past in Yugoslavia.)[/li][li]Med Student Abby Lockhart - OK. With her mother now there (for a short time, I imagine), she’ll get more depth.[/li][li]Frank - I liked Jerry much better.[/li][li]Dr. Cleo Finch - Initially a pedes doctor to replace Dr. Ross, she became the obvious new love interest of Benton. Too flat of a character.[/li][li]Dr. Dave Mallucci - Argh! What a freaking jerk! I don’t even love to hate him! Keep him only if Benton gets to deck him every episode. :D[/li][li]Dr. Jing-Mei “Deb” Chen - Seemed like a replacement for Lucy, overeager and such. Her pregnancy should bring some more depth.[/li][li]Dr. Peter Benton - He’s great when they let him go emotionally. But too often he’s the stereotypical brooding black man. (Loved it when he told the black woman who wanted a white doctor that he could get her one, but she’d have to wait 3 more hours, then walked out.)[/li][/ul]

Past characters I miss:[ul]
[li]Jerry Markovic[/li][li]Dr. David Morgenstern[/li][li]Dr. Angela Hicks[/li][li]Dr. Susan Lewis[/li][/ul]

Some Notes:

Dr Chen was one of the original members of the cast. She was a fellow student with Carter and that blond woman who later moved on to “LA Firefighters.” Interestingly, back then she was Ming-Na Wen. Now she appears to be going simply by Ming-Na. I believe she was divorced while she was gone from the show and over at “The Single Guy” (a show I thoroughly enjoyed) playing Jerry Slotznick’s wife.

I only have one hope for the Benton-Romano relationship: that, after all the great acting and all the great plots that these two haev gone through and will hopefuilly go through, that Benton gets one good swing at that jerks head. And then stitches it up.

Who’s the new pediatrician again? I forget… Sheesh, she is a bland character. The actress looks like she has some depth (very soulful eyes), but they haven’t really given her anything yet. Could be we just need to wait a little.
God, I do miss Jerry. Loved the actor ever since the long-gone, late lamented early Fox sitcom “Parker Lewis Can’t Lose.” This Frank guy is starting to get on my nerves (though he does fit the ex-cop profile nicely, unable to let go of the job).

Of course, the show has had so many good peopl come through the door. Hell, William H. Macy did some damn fine work. I always loved his relationship with Weaver. Ooh! Clancy Brown! There’s another great short appearance!

Okay, I’m stopping now.

Whoops! Dug a little deeper, and found that Ming-Na dropped the Wen from her name when she married her husband, Eric Michael Zee, in 1995. Sorry about the confusion.

Dr. Mark Greene - a whiner. He can get run over by one of those el train he’s always waiting for. And you can’t hoop for shit!

Dr. Carter - clueless rich boy. Mainline some drano.

Dr. Kerry Weaver - bitch. Stick that metal crutch in a light socket.

Dr. Elizabeth Corday - grow up already. Unless you want to do us a favor and die first.

Dr. Romano - briefly moderately entertaining, but I’d like his car to break down in a rough part of town and see how his tough guy act gets him. Pick on someone your own size. What’s that? You’re the only bald dwarf troll on the show? I’m sure he has bad breath too, and enjoys it!

Dr. Luka Kovac - death to the pretty boy. I’m sure some soap opera could use you. Oh wait, you’re already on one.

Abby - go back to radio.

Dr. Cleo - Now she’s hot. She can live. You might think she’s too flat, AWB, but size isn’t everything ya know!

Dr. Mallucci - him, I’d like to see slapped around, sodomized, and then die slowly of a lingering painful disease, but only if no one showed him any sympathy. Otherwise, it will have to be a quick death.

Dr. Chen - wish I had as high an opinion about her character as she apparently has for herself. Send her off for medical experimentation.

Dr. Peter Benton - Hey, is that chip on your shoulder big enough for ya? Fuck things up a little more for yourself and see if we give a damn, asshole. Die! Die! Die! Die! Die!

Did I miss anyone?

According to Entertainment Weekly, Dr. Weaver is going to become involved with a woman this season. I think they were setting that up in an earlier episode with a doctor from another part of the hospital. That should be interesting. They seem to make Dr. Weaver more likeable every season.

I know there’s only so many actors the show can afford, but at some point everyone in the ER will have slept with everyone else. The surprise pair-ups are getting really old.

I agree that Frank is a dud. I don’t like the actor and the writers have given me nothing to like about his character.

I’ve always liked Dr. Corday, mainly because the actress who plays her was once married to Ralph Fiennes, who is IMHO the most gorgeous man on the planet. So I have a lot of respect for her.

I didn’t mean flat-chested. I meant a very bland character. She showed a little fire at first, but then she became “Dr. Benton’s Girlfriend”. That almost ruined Corday for me, no matter how hot I think she is.

Anyone know what the story is on where Jerry and Dr. Hicks went to? Was their leaving ever explained on the show?

I don’t know if they ever explained why Jerry left.

Jerry was played by Abraham Benrubi. His father, Asher Benrubi, is a radio dj and blues singer here in St. Louis (he calls himself “Smash”). Smash mentioned on his show right after Abraham left er that he was going to have his own show. Obviously that never happened.

However, I saw him a few weeks ago on “Dark Angel,” in a role that could end up being a recurring one. He also did an episode of the X-Files last year or the year before.

I think he’s cool, too. I’d like to see him in more stuff.

Dinsdale, big fan of the show are ya? Jeez, in your perfect world, all the main characters would be dead, except for one hot peditrician. I don’t know if she could sustain an hour long show on her own.

This week on E/R, Dr. Cleo smiles at the camera.
And be sure to tune in next week when Dr. Cleo shows some cleavage.
And don’t miss the very special season finale where Dr. Cleo wears a thong bikini (actually I’d probably tune in for that one).

I agree with AWB’s assessment of everybody except Kovac. I dislike Kovac; I don’t even think he’s good looking, and even though I’d have sympathy for anyone else with his past, for some reason I don’t have sympathy for him. He just seems wishy-washy to me. He has no chemistry with any other character.

I didn’t know that his name was Kovac, though, until today, never having seen it written before. I was always hearing “Kolac”, which means “cake”, and thinking that was too obvious.

Hot damn, Jack. I am so in on that!

I agree with everything AWB said.

Dr. Luka…oh mama he’s hot! I’m glad he’s on the show. I feel bad for him though because it seems hard for him to keep any sort of relationship.

Sometimes I just want to punch Dr. Romano.

Why does Sally Field suddenly look so, so old?

I loooooove Luka. He is very attractive (to me), and I think his voice and accent are so sexy. I think he brings an interesting dynamic to the mix, especially with his tragic past and his ethnic background. If Carol had stuck around, they would’ve made a great couple.

By the way, his last name on the show is pronounced “Kovatch”.

I am head over heels in lust for Luka, what an incredibly hot man, voice, hair, face, height, the way he grabbed Abby’s coat before he kissed her MMMmmmmm!

Frank - don’t like him, I miss Jerry even though he did have to be shown how to wash his hands

Kerry Weaver - she’s lost her edge, but she’s good on the show

Peter Benton - they are starting to do some good things with his character

Mark Greene - crucial, cannot lose him

Abby Lockhart - Starting to grow on me, like her new hairstyle, better now that’s she’s got some depth

Elizabeth Corday - alwasy liked her, especially when she told Romano off

Robert Romano - Necessary to the show, I’d just like to see him once, just once get his ass kicked

Dave Malucci - waste of airtime, what an annoying prick, cheered loudly when Benton hit him

Cleo - needs a personality

John Carter - Liked him at first, now starting to irritate me

Jing-Mei - I like her, and what a hottie she has for her baby’s father
