My all-time favorite episodes were

The slow night when it ends with them paging Gant for help only to realize it was his body on the gurney…a friend of mine had gotten bored by the slow ep and switched channels during the last two minutes when the real drama happened! That kind of innocent slow build-up was amazing.

Mark Green presiding over the birth where the mom ends up dying. I’ve never had a baby but even I could feel the pain of him reaching in and trying to fix things around the uterus.
Man, those were a long time ago. Now they just mine old ideas and think that maybe we’ve forgotten.

The Mark Green episode with the pregnant woman was the best episode ever. They’ve never been able to repeat the intensity of that episode and it was just a good old medical story. No falling helicopters, explosions, shoot ups, tanks, tornadoes, killer viruses or precocious children stealing body parts.
I once saw an outtake from that episode. Anthony Edwards managed to get hold of a little fake Alien baby (from the series V) and he snuck it into that scene and “pulled it out” of the pregnant woman. Everyone was screaming.
