What is your favorite online radio station? I’m not talking about do-it-yourself sites like Pandora, but radio stations run by others.
Mine is KISN Goodguy Radio, a golden oldies station that was on the air in Portland, Oregon for decades and very recently revived as an internet station.
BBC Radio 4. The single most brilliant (and doper-friendly) radio station in the history of the world, apart from the occasional lame comedy series and dreadful soap opera. Yeah, it’s a national station too, but it’s now an online one, and consistently brilliant and erudite.
Radio Paradise. Very eclectic, has introduced me to many new artists, though sometimes the songs Bill chooses to overplay drive me bonkers. But now I have an iTunes remote app for my phone that lets me kill Adele dead in seconds!
Thank you very much for this link. Lots of memories.
I was thinking: Hmmm, I routinely am awake until near midnight. Maybe I’ll stay up and listen for the beginning of Pat Pattee’s slot to see if they start off with old theme song. Oops. That’s midnight PDT. That would be really late for me. Oh well.
I find it fascinating they call themselves “91 KISN”, since a) they are not on any frequency, let alone 910 and b) “KISN” is currently the callsign of a Montana station.
(Right now they’re running an old “ninety-wonderful” ad. Singing about news, weather, etc. Which they don’t do. Oh, well.)
About their ads: Old (e.g., Nancy Sinitra singing for Coke), new, etc. But the one that sticks out like a sore thumb: their “download our app for your smartphone” one. That just doesn’t fit on an oldies station.
