Erfworld: General Discussion [spoilers]

New Erf

Parson is going on a hike, despite being a garrison unit with no move…

And Naughtymancy shows it’s true power by deletionism getting deleted (read down past the update).

Good point. And it was pointed out that he has no move, too. Parson, as always, up to something.

And getting retconned into retconjuration.

As for today’s update, we (and Parson) have already seen that he can break some of Erfworld’s rules. His picnic is him experimenting with what other rules he can break. He can walk just like any other Earth human; what will happen when he gets to the edge of a hex? Under Erf rules, he can’t cross it, but under Earth rules, he can.

New update.

Aww, what a cute couple.

It’s always caused Sizemore some distress that, however much theory he studies and masters, he could never get the hang of casting outside his specialty. ISTM that now he’s had a taste of how much more effective his casting can be when he’s linked, he’s coming to terms with the role Fate Magic cast him in. And I’m thinking the pep talk from Janice helped a lot, too.

I wonder if it will occur to him to try casting outside his specialty when he’s linked with Maggie?

New update. Does Parson’s new determniation to be a player instead of infrastructure mean that he has move?

Find out…

The scene shifts to the field.

interesting to see how Ansom and Wanda stack to make for some really impressive bonuses

Parson learns another lesson in the fine art of Stanley-wrangling…

I can hardly wait for the webcomic to resume. Are there any Tools on the Dope? If so, does anyone have a date for when the comic will return?

The latest site news item is that, if things go according to plan, the Capclave party next month might also be the launch of Book 2 of the webcomic format. I note that the latest prose update jumped a few days ahead; I have a hunch there will be more jumps and shorter vignettes to cover things like the rebirth of Faq and (probably) the creation of a new anti-GK alliance.

koff

Kind of disappointing that this one didn’t come with an illustration… Stanley rocking out sounds like it would have been pretty darned impressive.

Lately, they’ve been posting the prose updates as soon as Rob writes them and putting the art in as it arrives. So, it’ll probably be there in a week or so.

New Erf

Back to Faq.

(anyone know when the Summer Updates end and we get back to the next book?)

Going back a few, it hadn’t occurred to me exactly how much “decryption” would change the whole dynamic of warfare. No need to worry about prisoners and loyalty - just kill everyone and bring them back! And think of the savings in upkeep! Thousands of units, ready to serve, and all fiercely loyal to Wanda.

Wanda’s definitely all kinds of scary.

Parson is bored. This could be dangerous…

When is this going to become a comic again?

Any thoughts on the Jillian-Wanda relationship now that Jillian has taken her rightful place as Queen of Faq? Would Wanda still owe Jillian any Loyalty? If so, it might be the mechanism behind how Parson has to face that army of decrypted (because let’s fact it, the invincible army is boring when it’s on the same side as the master strategist protagonist).

I think that’s the point. It seems to be a foregone conclusion that even if all of the major powers remaining in Erfworld unite against Stanley and Wanda, they will be crushed one-by-one. Team Evil can throw their own forces into the teeth of the opposition until everyone is dead, Decrypt everyone, and move on with very little resources actually expended.

The question is not whether or not Team Evil can conquer the world; it’s what Parson is going to do to make sure they don’t.
