Erfworld: General Discussion [spoilers]

Charlie goofed.

I’m not so sure he goofed, as Charlie did come out with some valuable information of his own. And even if he tipped off Parson to how powerful the bracer could be, then at least Charlie knows that, too, now. And has more calculations he can spend on just that.

But I think that Charlie’s main goal, as always, was to find out info he could use. He has to know that he’s a big ol’ target now – even if he doesn’t know that Wanda has the Arkenpliers, Stanley has never made a secret of his goal of getting all the Arkentools. Now that Gobwin Knob is mowing over everything in sight, Charlie has to know Stanley will be coming to call sooner or later.

The scene shifts to Jetstone and its new Coalition.

Back to Queen Zamussels.

I’m disappointed there’s no picture, again. I’ve been wondering how a megalogwiff differs from a gwiffon, and what kind of peep it is.

Also: yeah, Jillian probably will be yelling a lot.

So the previously-unflappable Charlie is (apparently) in a difficult spot - he can’t go where he wants (without getting things “cut off”), his client base no longer trusts him and his information security is compromised. Interesting times. I wonder what the decrypted Archons know and whether Parson/Stanley know that they know it?

On a side note: I’m currently playing “Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box” on my DS. At one point you receive a hamster and are asked to name him. Naturally I’ve called him “Parson”. :stuck_out_tongue:

. . . and the kingdom of Hyatt (although technically it was a regency). Heh.

Oh Lordy, if we start on the puns and in-jokes we’ll be here all night. Sandwiches, hotels, trousers…I can’t take much more of the “themed kingdom” stuff.

Aw, just one more?

I was particularly amused by the Jetstone town of Penistone.

New update up

Loved it. Good info on Decrypted.

A cross between a zombie invasion and a holy war… brrrr…

Wow. We really get to meet Bea of Unaroyal in that update. That was nicely done.

I’m enjoying the written updates more than the comic updates. I think it’s just because there’s more information in them, more story per update.

Yeesh. Looks like Parson called it right as to which was the evil side.

Is there really an evil side in an unending war?

Especially the new knowledge that They can be croaked, and that’s the end of the line.Very astute of Queen Bea to make a note of that and pass it along to Don King.

It was also very astute of her to realize that her sacrifice was the only way she could deprive GK of the fruits of an inevitable conquest of Unaroyal. And I’ll just bet that Stanley/Wanda/Parson are not going to be thrilled with that discovery.

Does every capital city have a self-destruct room for its Overlord, I wonder?

That wasn’t a self-destruct room; that was the portal room to the Magic Kingdom. Hence the comment of her having visited it once that day already (while sending off her four casters to the Magic Kingdom).

I was a bit surprised at all her units vanishing, but with no Ruler or Heir, they wouldn’t go barbarian. And had she left them as garrison units, they would’ve apparently been trapped, inactive, in the capitol as neutrals, and then probably absorbed by Gobwin Knob upon claiming the city. Very astute queen, Bea.

It has been established that rulers can make their troops disappear with a mere thought. Stanley threatens Parson with this near the beginning of the strip.

That may be a one-unit-at-a-time thing (and would perhaps feel too much like personally killing that many people in the real world). By self-immolation via portal (which normally disbands any non-caster attempting to use it – neither Parson nor we really know why he didn’t disband), Queen Bea eliminated all her units with one stroke.

Given her obvious view that decryption is an abomination, she presumably regarded it as an act of mercy.

Excellent punnage in the names of the casters:

Vanna [White] as Turnamancer
[David] Bowie as [Ch-ch-ch-]Changemancer
[Fedor] Jeftichew [better known as Jojo the Dog-Faced Boy] as Carnymancer
Spenser [I’m assuming this is a reference to the fictional detective, as played by Robert Ulrich on TV] as a Findamancer.

I just realized that Queen Bea is a pun. I’m surprised her livery wasn’t yellow and black.

If it’s a word in Erfworld, it’s a pun or a reference. The sheer number of them in such a coherent and well-told story is staggering to me.
