Could someone tell me what Stanley was doing during the battle for gobwin knob? I know that he left, but where was he going and what was he trying to do?
He was trying to get to the destroyed kingdom of Faq to start over with a new faction, he pretty much gave up gobwin knob as lost.

Jamie Noguchi will be moving on to other projects after finishing the bonus pages for Book 1; Xin Ye (pronounced ‘shen’) will be taking over the illustration for Book 2. (Both of them were doing sketches at the party; to all indications the parting was perfectly amicable.)
-
Book 2 will start going online on the 28th, on a Wednesday/Saturday schedule. It will be released in 25-page “issues” with text interludes in between.

The croaked-Gump edition of Book 1 will be published by Giant in the Playground in early February.
Unfortunate, but I’ve been suspecting that this was the case for a while. The one example of Ye’s work I’ve seen makes it seem like their styles won’t clash too much, fortunately.
The Zhopa the Twoll update? It looked to me to be a bit more realistic in style than Jamie’s work, but then, there seems to have been a trend as Book 1 went along for Erfworld to become more realistic. And, for that matter, for Parson to become more cartoony, as he becomes more a part of that world.
Y’know, he could at least order them to cut back on the revealing outfits, pillow-fights, and other distractions when he’s around. They probably wouldn’t understand that they even are distractions, much less why, so he’d probably have to be painfully specific in his order, but they’d do it.
Another downside of sleeping with the Archons: if he ever gets back to his own reality he’ll have developed a fetish for “midget porn”.
More seriously, I wonder what they’d do if he ordered them to select two “volunteers” from amongst themselves. The Charlie-controlled Archons seemed to have some decision-making skills.
Caesar Borgata listens to the snaps, crackles and pops of the nearby fire.
Yeah, I’d say Don is on a crusade since Unaroyal fell.
Caesar’s suspicions (justified or otherwise) sound like the start of something that will not end well…
Well, the new comic must be up, because the site’s down. It’s like GitP all over again.
The site has been down all day. I’m suspecting shennanigans, moreso than traffic.
… That, or Erfworld’s hamsters really are more out-of-shape than the Dope’s. Which wouldn’t be a surprise, and all, but honestly.
The last time I was able to get through to the server, the new update hadn’t gone up.
Given that today was preannounced as the start of Book 2, with a final text update to finish the bridge, I suspect that the server simply got zerg-rushed into oblivion.
Well, duh.
For what it’s worth, if you go there now, it’s nothing but a “we’re getting a lot of traffic, and changing some server settings, be patient” message on a blank background.
Jillian takes the field again.
The server seems to be back up with one last Summer Update before Book 2 begins.
“Fund-razing”. snerk
I’m such a sucker for puns.
Finally we have some information on how a Side gets casters! Sheesh.
Also, I’d always thought that “Vanna the Turnamancer” was too perfect a pun for a throwaway character reference. Even if she doesn’t know how to play right.
Heh – good line re the “Western Giants”:
