Well, that looks like Parson’s little hobby for Stanley is, ah, paying dividends.
Heh. Cubbins’ speciality is hat magic, I assume.
And it sounds like Gobwin Knob is about to decrypt some very valuable new recruits. They’ve already got four full casters, plus assorted Archons, plus Parson’s mathemancy, and now it looks like they’re going to add at least three more.
And given Stanley’s tastes in warlords, I’ll bet that Ossomer is about to replace Ansom as Chief Warlord.
Ansom is not going to engage Ossomer’s forces – he’s going to bypass that hex. That’s why all of Ansom’s forces are fliers, and why he told the warlords and caster to mount up – it’s Gobwin Knob’s turn, they still have move to get to Spacerock, and since it’s not Jetstone’s turn Ossomer can’t move to follow.
Ossomer is about to go barbarian.
Quite so. ALL the casters are in that hex. So… go elsewhere, on the N dragons Stanley picked up. This means the next victory is entirely caused by Stanley.
I wonder if Erfworld has ever seen a barbarian contingent with that many assets.
Think they might join themselves up with Jillian?
Hm, that does make more sense. And Jetstone has all of their forces piled heavily on that “choke point” that isn’t. I wonder if they might still swing back afterwards to pick up some souvenirs, though… With conventional warfare, there’d be no point, but when you can decrypt defeated enemies, fighting is its own justification. And presumably they’d be easier to beat as barbarians than as a functional side.
I’m not clear on who would turn barbarian versus who would just vanish if the capital falls. At Unaroyal troops outside the city went “poof”, but Jillian and the casters did not when Faq was destroyed. Will Ossomer and Trammenis find themselves in the midst of a greatly reduced force with their bonuses slashed?
Unaroyal’s units all vanished when Queen Bea suicided, because she no longer had an Heir. Trammenis or Ossomer would be Slately’s heir (maybe, both), so I think all the Jetstone forces that aren’t croaked would go barbarian after Slately’s death.
They’d have to recapture a capital city to refound their side, though. So once they all go barbarian, upkeep becomes a major concern. Unless they get funded by the RCCII, paying for those casters is going to be a problem for them.
New developments in the battle for Jetstone’s capital city. So, Wanda’s taking a somewhat more direct approach to gathering intelligence, is she? I presume she’s plans to flame Ossomer and Tramennis, then decrypt and debrief.Any thoughts as to what could go wrong, here? She would be violating their diplomatic immunity, after all.Is there something in standard game rules that makes that a problem? Or might something specific to Erfworld make that a problem?
I’m not thinking it will be a Rules problem that burns her, but the fact that Ossomer or Trammenis may not know that, for example, Jillian showed up at Spacerock with an aerial force of gwiffons, megalogwiffs, and Charlescomm archons.
So Wanda could still be walking into a trap, but one that she could have learned about had she sent a decrypted archon to scout ahead.
Negotiations have been cut off, and the princes expect to be attacked now anyway, I would think. So I don’t think that’s an issue.
I think Wanda is planning to kill then decrypt Ossomer or the other one as a means of gathering intelligence.
New update, though I’m not sure how to get a permanent link to it.
I have to say, the last two panels both pay off.
I had my doubts when they announced a new artist, but I have to say that Xin Ye is doing a wonderful job of keeping true to the original designs. The art’s certainly different, but still good, and in a way I like it more.
And thus the term “flash mob” is forever redefined in my mind…
Click on the title (“Book 2 - Page 6”, in this case) and it will lead to a permalink for that page.
A thought occurs to me: Has it occurred to anyone else that Tramennis might be, ahem, not susceptible to the effects of the flash mob?
It has, and there is a clue earlier to it, in that Maggie told Parson to go get his ashes hauled.
But really, there’s no strong evidence of it. Just that he’s, ah, very british, not that he’s very gay. (I did love his line about double the dog bowels.)
And I think Ansom would know if the flash mob wouldn’t work on him.
Yes, but it also occurred to me that he might succumb to the “Ick! Girly parts!” shock, so it’s probably all good.
