Hello. I’ve just installed the game ‘Blair Witch - Volume 1 : Rustin Parr’ on my PC. When I try to run the game I get an error window on my screen saying ’ WinDebug cannot GetProc Adddress WSOCK32.dll51’. Can someone help me please.
You don’t mention your OS or other usefull particulars. A search of the MS KB turns up several articles regarding games that have issues if wsock32.dll is missing or corrupted, or located in the wrong folder. See if this article helps any:

IT appears others with this game have your same issue.

Looks like there is a patch or something to fix this. I am unfamiliar with this game/company/forum, so here is the usual disclaimer: Always check your downloads for virii if they do not come from a trusted source.
That site also has a tech FAQ in addition to the forum.
If these suggestions don’t help, do a Google Groups Search of your game and the error. I’ve solved many game issues that way.
Hi again. After posting my original message I did a bit of searching on the web and discovered that there is a problem with running this game with Windows XP. Even if one uses the Conpatbility tweaking it still doesn’t work. I may try that patch mentioned in the link in the message above. On;y when I install my virus checker that is just it case it contains anything dubious. Thanx for help peeps
I feel so much less alone, now that I know there are thousands of others out there that share the same problems…
Are we to understand that **Gephydrophobia **and **Alias82 **are the same person?
If so, please note that you’re only allowed one account on this message board. Send a message to TubaDiva, the boards administrator, and she will merge your accounts.
No there’s a low budget psycho horrer movie…trapped in a room on a computer for 17yrs, scouring the internet for a solution to play a shitty game based on a shitty movie from last century…
Edit: I can only assume the game is shitty, as 99% of movie based games are. I welcome reviews.

A few things: First of all, since this thread was first active, we’ve gotten a forum just for games, where this would be a better fit. So I’m moving this.
Second, it’s a violation of our rules to have multiple screen names, so I’m banning the newer account until such time as we get that straightened out. You need to e-mail TubaDiva using the e-mail account you used to register, and explain the situation.
Proc 51 in winsock is 'GetHostByAddr". On XP, wsock32 is a shim for ws2_32.dll. On win2k,XP-32,7-32 there would normally already be a copy of wsock32 in %system32%, which you could copy to your local folder. On 64bit windows, there would be something similar in syswow ???. (On 32 bit systems, there would also be a copy of Winsock.dll, the 16 bit shim, but that doesn’t work on 64 bit windows)
My guess would be that the original game came with a copy of wsock32.dll, for Win98, installed in the game directory, and loaded using the full path. When installed on WinXP, it didn’t install its copy of wsock32.dll, because there was a more recent version. But because the game was using the full path to call the dll, the installed dll (in system32) couldn’t be found.
Is anyone else struck by the observation that a sock account zombied a thread about winsock?
mind blown
(Okay, mind not really blown.)
Just sayin’, the “that’s me” could have just been referring to “[someone who is] still experiencing this problem”…
Two things: I also read it as someone different just saying they have the same issue and I thought I had read there was a new Blair Witch game coming soon so it’s funny this thread came back now.
If that’s so, then whoever Alias82 is can clear it up by contacting TubaDiva, and so far as I know, e hasn’t yet.
Now that the OP is answered, I’m having a problem with this old game called “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.” The graphics are all blocky and there doesn’t appear to be any point to it whatsoever.
If you have a bad copy of the game I believe there is a landfill in Alamogordo, New Mexico where you can exchange for another copy.
Doubtful. Anything remotely excavatable was removed in 2013.
