I’ve been trying to evict a family in my Sims game, and the game does all the appropriate dialog boxes and sound effects, but then says “Error! Could not evict!” I checked the Maxis site, but this bug is not mentioned. Has anyone encountered this before? Is there a fix? I’d rather not have to reinstall, as my roomate has threated my life if I erase her families.
You can reinstall and still keep the families. Just move the User folders to the desktop, and delete the rest of the Sims stuff. Then reinstall and move the User folders back to where they belong and it should work fine.
I might have a solution for you…It’s theoretical, though.
-
go to http://www.thesimsresource.com/downloads/ and download the Character makeover studio. Install it.
-
Run the program. Load the userdata/character for that neighborhood, and find out the character#s of the sims in that family.
-
Go into your Maxis folder and open that same Userdata folder and delete all offending family members.
Theoretically you should have an empty house after this, but it still might cause problems.
If it doesn’t work out, you should replace the neighborhood rather than reinstalling though. To do that, delete the Userdata folder, then copy the “neighborhood template” folder and rename it Userdata#whicheveryoudeleted. You’d have no houses or familes, but it’d save you an hour or so of uninstalling/reinstalling time.
