Escaped murderer from Pennsyvania state prison captured by K9 police officer

I say bring back the ball and chain that was attached to each prisoner’s ankle. The Spidey crawl-up-the-wall stunt would be almost impossible if he had been wearing a ball and chain.

I’m pretty sure he got plenty of hugs and treats. Credit? What good is credit to a dog?

Whaddaya mean what good is it? It’s something Yoda can proudly show to his pups and grandpups in later years! At least Yoda got his picture in at least some media …

That picture doesn’t smell like anything to me.

A good boy, who is? A good boy, who is?

(This post would have been funnier if Discourse let me embed the picture again.)

Yay!! Yoda is now making headlines on CNN!

Nitpick: the prison wasn’t a State prison, it was a County prison.

I happened to be at Longwood Gardens during the first several hours of his escape. But not on the trails there (I did those a few months ago).

Lucky! My family and I were going to plan a trip to the Gardens, but we were thwarted by his daring escape. Glad he was caught without incident, though. I wonder if he had any long-term plan? Canada?

Well, take heart, because many of us are trying to initiate an “Affirmative Action” canine program to allow other breeds the opportunity to serve and protect! :man_police_officer:

some of the smaller breeds are very fierce.

I wondered the same thing. I assumed he had help with his jailbreak and that that assistance would be ongoing.

We’ve seen on video that another prisoner may have been his lookout when he crab walked up the wall. There is also some evidence his sister intended to help him in some way and she is now being deported. It doesn’t sound like he had any other assistance while he was on the run. All of the clothing and the gun he had appear to have been stolen or found. This seems to be a rather routine jailbreak facilitated by the negligent and incompetent management of the prison.

I am surprised that he didn’t shoot the dog.

in Pennsylvania…
Yoda seek you!

The aviation unit found him the night before - well a heat signature of what looked like a person in a field but then had to skedaddle due to a thunderstorm rolling in. The poor ground cops held the perimeter, thru the storm, until morning (no need for flashlights in daylight) when they snuck up on him. Sounds like he may not have known they were there until they make it be known they were there, which was probably just seconds before Yoda went CHOMP.

According to the spokesman for Pennsylvania State Police, preventing a suspect from accessing a weapon is part of Yoda’s training. He may or may not have even had the opportunity to get to the rifle that was underneath him, but Yoda bit him twice to ensure that he didn’t.

Well, he’s in state prison now, a maximum-security facility.

Another pic of Yoda, looking pleased with himself after a job well done:

Pennsylvania has many thousands of law enforcement personnel, sending them in from other states is a waste of money.

I was watching a breakdown lat night and it looks like he apparently stole a van at one point and tried to contact two friends, but one of them called the police.

It seems to me like he made a mistake by heading into more and more rural area. Once he got the van he should’ve headed straight for Philly/NYC. He could’ve just disappeared in the city.

The guard’s firing, after 18 years of employment there, quite likely had something to do with this.

That would probably have been a suicidal action.
