They weren’t even licking yet while I was watching (first half). I could swear, however, that I heard someone in the booth undoing a belt buckle.
It got really bad in the 2nd half.
Is Brett favre the only guy in the NFL with a wife? They showed her more than they showed the field in the 2nd half…and she’s not even hot.
They used to show Kurt Warner’s wife all the time. I think all of the rest of the guys are gay/single, which explains all of the sodomy going on from the broadcast booth.
They were showing Favre’s wife because she has cancer.
I thought there was a lot of tonguing-the-rim going on last night.
They didn’t just have Al and John kissing the dixie pole.
Bart Starr wanted to pack Favre’s star.
Cal Ripken wanted to man his iron.
Joe Namath was offering up his broad way.
Ben Stiller was looking to “Meet The Penis”.
And that’s all after the governor of Wisconsin got a taste of his cheese.
Let’s not overlook the greatest dong-pucker of all: ABC actually scheduling MNF for the 200th straight start, at Lambeau, against a team that perenially has terrible pass defense. And, of course, we had 2 hours of ESPN knob jobbing leading up to the game.
Fine, he does deserve it though. If any guy out there deserves as much attention yet hates it just the same let me meet him.
I don’t (necessarily) think that Favre’s a bad guy. He might be a great guy. But the rest of the world is sick of hearing about it. I’m sure he hates it. I’d cringe if I had people talking about me like that. The Sports media needs to just let the guy do his job and remember that there are 10 other guys playing with him (and eleven on the other side of the ball). Now, if this is all coming from a publicist he’s hired I recant the preceeding statements, but somehow I doubt it.
His wife, Deanna, had just completed her first week of chemotherapy for breast cancer. Sorry she’s not hot enough for you to look at, but I thought it was nice that she attended the game after starting chemotherapy, and I think it was great that a woman was shown on television, not for her good looks or skimpy outfit, but because she’s fighting breast cancer.
God, you’re a dick.
There were probably 200 other people in the stadium who had cancer, many of them with breast cancer.
Brett Favre is not the only player in the NFL who has a family member with cancer or with some other major health issue. There are players who have kids with disabilities and diseases.
A Vikings O-Lineman named Lewis Kelly had his wife die while she was four months pregnant. He came back and played but nobody spent three hours talking about what a hero he was, just like nobody talks about the millions of other people who go back to work after family members die or get cancer.
It’s really not a huge accomplishment for a woman with breast cancer to go and sit in a luxury box at a football game. I’m pretty sure just about any woman with breast cancer could do it. I don’t even fault Favre himself. If you’re a football fan you have to respect #4. I just think the annaouncers waaayyy overcook the drama and wring too much exaggerated “inspiration” from every little thing that Favre does.
Poor Kurt…a two time MVP and a Superbowl winner and he’s still got an Arena League wife.
By the looks of her I woulda thought that she played for the girl’s team.
All I need to know about DtC on this topic is this:
Location: Roseville, MN
Yeah, and all you need to know about Uncommon Sense is Swillwokkee, Wisconsin.
You also might want to keep in mind that DTC said this

Work safe.
Trunk, you putz. That’s not a worksafe link. My bosses access denied horn just went off again. Now I’m going to get canned and I’ll have lots of time to start up tons of Favre/Packer threads.
The rest of you can thank Trunk.
Are you joking?
First of all, the picture itself is definitely work safe.
The index page itself seems fine. . . news and stuff.
Sorry if it tripped your detector – it shouldn’t have. I wouldnt’ do that intentionally.
(or am I being whooshed?)
Favre had a “good” game last night but nothing to write home about.
I was disappointed that they didn’t focus on Carroll or Davenport more. They both had great “breakout” games.
The fact that they still put Favre on the MNF horse trailer is too much. I’d think his teammates would get sick of being asked “Hey you had a great game, what’s it like playing with Favre?” The players can’t and don’t blame Favre since he’s pretty humble about the whole thing but they gotta be gettin sick of the media.
I think the Pack works because they have a lot of guys performing right now. Favre is just one of the parts.
Um, no. There is not anyone you can meet, BECAUSE NOT A SINGLE PERSON IN THE NFL DESERVES THE ATTENTION HE GETS. And I like Favre, a lot. But the michaels/madden and mcguire/theisman combo daisychain on favre is just plain tiring to hear about.
I’m a Giants fan, for the record.
In general, I’ve always admired Favre as a quarterback, and regard him as a sure Hall of Famer. That said, I also agree that he’s been highly overrated for several seasons now. Right now, he’s NOT the best quarterback in the NFL. He’s not the best quarterback in the NFC. He’s not even the best quarterback in his own weak division. But you’d never grasp that from listening to TV commentators.
Seven years ago, I’d have said that Favre was the QB I’d want in a do or die situation. That hasn’t been true in a long time now. Oh yes, he’s still capable of throwing for 400+ yards and 5 touchdown passes. Problem is, he’s now EQUALLY capable of throwing 5 unforgivably dumb interceptions and giving away games the Packers should win easily.
The worst thing is, Favre’s interceptions are no longer the kind cocky rookies make (forcing a ball into tighht coverage because you’re too confident in your arm strength). His interceptions are ugly ones, real ducks!
I’m not saying he’s terrible, nor am I suggesting he retire. He’s still a solid, better-than-average NFL quarterback and there’s nothing wrong with that. But he’s NOT a stellar QB any more, and hasn’t been for some time. It’s time for everyone (including the media) to stop pretending nothing’s changed.
Wooshed, I’m still here.
But the ‘Access Denied’ thing did pop up.
Anyone else?
Brett Favre does not throw in inordinate amount of interceptions.
Player - TD/Att% - Int/Att% - TD/Int
John Elway - 4.1% - 3.1% - 1.33
Dan Marino - 5.0% - 3.0% - 1.67
Johnny Unitas - 5.6% - 4.9% - 1.15
Joe Montana - 5.1% - 2.6% - 1.96
Brett Favre* - 5.3% - 3.2% - 1.66
- Includes games though last Monday
If anyone is truly interested they can look at the stats (this isn’t important enough for me to paste and clean it all up) for this: both overall and in terms of the INT aspect specifically, Brett Favre had three great years (95-97), nearly a decade ago. He’s had some very good years. He’s had some very pedestrian years, even in the time frame that is generally a QB’s “prime”.
Elway and Montana were consistently good for a longer period of time. Elway and Montana, to boot, were not given to the choke the way Brett Favre is. Somebody detailed a few of the instances in an earlier post; he does something stupid to cost his team games, especially playoff games, more often than the law of averages can account for, I would suspect. It’s undeniable that he’s thrown away more playoff runs than he’s secured.
Marino doesn’t really belong in a discussion of this nature, as far as I’m concerned. He was a good quarterback who put up gaudy numbers by virtue of playing a decade and a half on a team that couldn’t run the ball and had no defense (hence had to score quickly). He doesn’t even rank in the all-time top fifty in, for example, completion percentage.
