Eurodopers, ever been to the USA or Canada?

As a counterpoint to Sampiro’s ongoing thread:
Any other dopers not been to Europe?

Any of you Euro or anywhere else dopers not been to the USA/Canada?
I’ve visited the USA six times since 1999 with one trip including a short sojourn in Canada. I’ve visited twelve states. In a weird way New York is more connected to Dublin than to much of the rest of the US. I don’t know many people who haven’t been there or elsewhere in the USA. How about you folks?

Oops, that thread title is ‘Any other Dopers who have never been to Europe?’

Just New York and Boston. I certainly would like to do more, with a coast-to-coast road trip as a long-standing dream. And I am definitely coming back to New York and Boston, too

Never. And since I’m extremely afraid of flying, it probably will never happen (plus, to say the truth, North-America is very low on my priority list, because it lacks history. Places I really want to visit all have centuries or millennias old palaces, temples, etc…)

Twice. A round trip fro Dallas through New Mexico and Arizona, and another from San Francisco to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Yosemite. And points between, in both cases.

I guess I lean towards the parts of America that are least like Britain. The sunnier and more arid the better. Although NYC is a must-go in anyone’s book, surely?

Florida, Utah, New York City and Connecticut… all in one trip a couple of years ago.

But I really want to take a road-trip across the southern parts. And will do it as soon as I find someone who wants to do it with me…

The Ancient Pueblo Peoples (also known as/formerly known as the Anasazi) who made the cliff dwellings in the desert southwest want to have a word with you. Ditto the people who built the world’s largest pyramid.

Been in the USA three times (I count each long-term stay with trips home or to third countries as a single time); been in uh… something like 20 states…

Never been to Canada. Yet.

Been in four countries south of the Rio Grande.

Wow, that must have been quite a trip! Any impressions you’d like to share?

Maybe you and GorillaMan could team up.

Only once - well, a few different places, but part of one round-the-world trip. I flew into LA (from the Cook Islands, now there’s a contrast in the pace of life!), hired a car and drove up the Pacific Coast Highway, via San Luis Obispo, to San Francisco. Then flew from there up to Vancounver and met a friend in Whistler for a week’s skiing.

Then flew back to San Francisco, drove to LA again and flew to Mexico for a couple of weeks, then stopped off in Miami for a week on the way home, by which time I had no money left at all and no idea what season it was!

I’ve never been to New York, but I’m going there as part of my honeymoon next month. I’d also love to do a big road trip, especially across the desert states. We’ve got most types of landscape over here, but nothing like that…

Unfortunately, so far, I’ve never visited either Canada or the USA. Hopefully tht will change.

We are currently saving for a cruise from the UK to New York and return flights, this will take place in the next couple of years all being well.

We have friends in Vancouver who we hope to visit in the near future as well.

Teenage boy t-shirt slogan alert.

I’ve been to NYC and Washington as part of a trip a few years ago, stayed about 5 days in each I think so saw a few of the major tourist attactions.

And there was the stopover at LAX on my way to and from New Zealand this year, not really a visit as such but I did have to enter the country! I’ve never been to Canada.

I want royalties if you print them

I´m afraid the trip was done by plane - but it was really cool to go swimming in the Caribbean (St. Pete, Florida) one day and skiing on Beaver Mountain (Utah) the next. Even though the Carib is quite cold in February

But New York just blew me away! I spent a whole day walking around with my head tilted upwards - looking like the complete tourist I was. Just so cool not being able to see further than the next block since all the buildings are so tall. And boy did that screw with my sense of direction (here, there’s always a mountain visible to the NE).

I’ve been to the US several times. So far I’ve visited Florida, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Washington (I don’t count NY or Atlanta since I’ve only changed planes there). I’ll be adding Indiana to that list in a couple of weeks.

Never been to Canada but I would love to go there.

I’ve been once, to Dallas Fort Worth. Pretty stark contrast between that and London, I can tell you. As a sun-starved Brit I loved the weather and kept turning off the AC of the apartment I was staying in to enjoy the warm (much to the confusion of the person I was staying with).

I’m intending to go to New York relatively soon as a friend of mine has just moved there. Waiting for her to drop her in current pregnancy and then I’ll start making plans.

Just the once! New Orleans, Miami, and south of Daytona (base for the beach and Orlando). Loved it and want to go back - to the Rockies and PNW next time.

I visited the USA several times between 1992 and my moving there in 2005 (returned to the UK about 6 weeks ago). I’ve also been to Canada once - Victoria, BC.

New York, Connecticut and Boston for Xmas & New Year’s Eve 2000-01. Definitely would like to come back for a longer period of time and visit a larger part of the country.

Canada once. Camping in Ontario, about an hour’s drive from Toronto. The same trip, we went across the bridge at Niagara Falls into Buffalo, to get a stamp in our passports. So USA too, but kind of cheating.

sighs Ive never been! My absolute goal in life is to practice law in the states. Im saving my pennies up so I can visit but working part time while Im at uni does not make em a lot of money. Ive only been abroad once and that was to Tanzania on a world challenge - had the time of my life.
