European World Cup Qualifying Results In...

Congratulations are in order for Turkey, Germany, Slovenia and Belgium

Results as follows:

Turkey 5 - Austria 0

Romania 1 - Slovenia 1

Germany 4 - Ukraine 1

Czech Republic 0 - Belgium 1
Thoughts? I have friends who will be happy about three of those results. I know one Czech and one Austrian that I play football with on Saturdays who will be quite sad.

I am personally just getting excited about the impending Finals.

I just want to know if Coldie is going to cheer for Belgium.

Hell yeah, the Red Devils have my support. But I’m mainly rooting for Ireland now. After all, they kicked the Dutch out of the qualifiers fair and square. They deserve the world championship.

Brazil v Venezuela kicked off 1/2 hour ago, I believe.

They should win but, if not, Brazil play the Aussies for a spot. That would be interesting

Shame about Ukraine…

Brazil beats Venezuela 3-0, Uruguay will meet Australia in the playoff…

So now Turkey has made it to the World Cup Finals for the first time since 1954.

And we have a team that will do a good job in the finals.

Watch the Turkish national team guys, it is a lot of fun, and good football…

[sub]Hey, if they told me 15 years ago that I would be able to say such things in the not so distant future, I wouldn’t even bother to laugh at it…This is a lot of progress in 15 years.[sub]

And the Fighting Irish take on Iran today in Tehran. We are taking a 2-0 lead into the match, but we are without Roy Keane.

ooooh eerrr!!!

Congratulations, Watermelon Man! I followed Euro 2000 with my Turkish friends, it’s really a great result for you! Never believed you would smash Austria by so much and twice. I look forward to partying with you in Korea or Japan.

Second try, I didn’t mean to whisper:

Congratulations, Watermelon Man! I followed Euro 2000 with my Turkish friends, it’s really a great result for you! Never believed you would smash Austria by so much and twice. I look forward to partying with you in Korea or Japan.

Also, good luck to the Irish in Iran tonight! I have enjoyed watching the Irish side through the years, maybe it’s a bit of the underdog thing, but would love to see them go through. Also, I was at the US v Iran game in Lyon at the last Cup. We were really embarassed, but I have to say that the Iranian fans were really a good lot.

WOO HOO!! WE ARE THROUGH!!!

I’ve never been so happy at a 1-0 defeat. Looking forward to early morning drunkenness next summer.

Oooooooh, that was a little uncomfortable towards the end. Excellent result. See ya there!

Deutscheland deutscheland UBER ALLES…

I saw this score on Sportscenter last night. Funny how my direct TV gets every soccer game in the world except that Germany match.

dammit.

Do you know about the history oh Turkey - USA national games?

I remember losing one a couple of years ago, but I am not that sure!

And we have a better team now…

HOw about a bet if we end up in the same group??

Of Yeah. I will see ya there.

A very happy fair weather football supporter.

Even though it’s a suckers bet (the USA has not faired so well in Cups away from the USA), I will be willing to get friendly wagers against anyone we play. I have mixed emotions against playing Turkey: I think it will be fun to bond with the Turks that are there, but I don’t want one of us to put the other out. And I am not familiar with our history against each other, it’s certainly far enough past not to predict the future.

I have heard that the USA will have friendlies against Germany and Korea soon as warm ups, both away games. Will be interested to see how we stack up outside of CONCACAF.

Finally good luck to Australia in their matches with Uruguay! The Australian side has been so strong recently it will be a damn shame if they can’t win through.
