EV spotting

I’ve mentioned once or twice on this board that I do a lot of bicycling. One thing I do while cycling is keep an eye out for EVs. The thing I like about them is that they don’t pollute the air I’m breathing.

I mostly see a bunch of Teslas, of course. Depending on the route I take, I could see anywhere from none at all (pretty much all country driving directly away from the city) up to 15 or 16 when going near certain neighborhoods. I occasionally see Nissan Leafs or Chevy Bolts, but have trouble identifying them, so there’s probably many I miss. They just don’t have distinctive enough features/logos. I see more Ioniqs, but am never sure if those are the EV or the hybrid. For some reason, I never see them in a situation where I can take a good long look at them.

Anyway, this evening I only saw three Teslas, a few Bolt-maybes, a Leaf-maybe, but I also spotted my first VW ID.4 in the wild. Those turn out to be easy to spot from the rear, since they have white (not chrome) lettering right below the rear VW logo. This one was in the next lane at a stop light. A few days ago, I spotted my first Mustang Mach E, so that’s two new models within about 5 days.

Where are you? I see several within a few blocks of my house every day in Northern Virginia.

Hillsboro OR.

When I walk, I see one per block, and plenty when driving. About as many Teslas as Priuses these days.
However I live in the same town as the Tesla factory.

Let us know when you see a non-Tesla EV, especially one of the newer ones.

Other than my own, I have only seen one Jaguar iPace on the road. (exactly like mine, model and color, and within a mile of my house) I do see a lot of Leafs (Leaves?), Bolts, and of course Teslas. When I go to upscale areas like Bainbridge Island or Bellevue, I see even more Teslas. I don’t think I’ve seen the Mustang yet.

A house around the corner has a Nissan Leaf in the driveway, with the charging cable run under the garage door. It seems like it would be easier to charge it inside the garage, but I assume the space inside the garage is probably being used for storage, or a workshop, or man cave, or something.

Someone near me has a Bolt, and there are plenty of Nissan Leafs around. My boss had one. But Teslas predominate. When I went down to Disney just before the pandemic I was parked next to one in the hotel garage.

So my small city (~5000) has a hotel and attached event center, American Legion, and pub/restaurant. In front of the hotel are two chargers. In the nearby parking lot (there is also a park, and pub/restaurant in a different building). Anyhow, that parking lot also has a charger (two plugs)
The event center was having a blood drive and after I donated I decided to get food. While waiting, I saw that there was a Model 3 in that parking lot charging. Not my first Tesla sighting, but I think it is tje first time I’ve seen one charging.
These are level 2 chargers and apparently free.

Just saw a BMW i3 in the wild for the first time. Teslas are a dime a dozen where I live, but I’ve encountered Bolts/Volts/Leafs sparingly in the past.
