Evaluating a Potential Roommate

I’m looking for a roomate via Craigslist as the girl I’ve been sharing my two-bedroom apartment with is moving out in a few months. I haven’t gotten as many responses as I thought I would.

I just met the most interested candidate and gave her a tour of my place. Based on about 20 minutes of interaction, I get kind of an odd vibe from her - nothing terribly bad, just off-putting. I can’t really put my finger on it. I don’t expect her to be rude or dishonest or anything that would make a bad roommate, I just didn’t like talking to her much.

Is that a legitimate reason for not living with someone? I’ve roomed blind 4 times between dorm life and my current roommate and I’ve never had serious problems, but I’ve gotten kind of attached to my apartment and I guess that raised my expectations.

There are two other people that responded to my ad initially, but they haven’t gotten back to me about meeting to look at my place, so I’m not counting on them being an alternative.

If you can’t be comfortable with your own roommate, and I never had one, I would assume it would be a living hell with someone you cannot stand. In this case, you have a choice.

I don’t really want to live with this girl. I don’t really know why and it feels like such a silly reason to do something. I think I wanted someone to tell me that I’m not being superficial or something.
