Even worse than last week's MMP

You keep that attitude, because it’s the right one. When Og slams a door in your face, he opens 5 others to compensate, but it up to you to find and make use of them.

Mornin’ all. I slept late today. Well, I tried to sleep late, but I kept waking up every hour or so. Anyway, I gave up and got up at 9:30.

I’m sorry about your friend Swampy. It was nice you could be there for him.

We’re supposed to meet with MIL for lunch today. However, I think I’m going to pass. I feel like total shit. Sorry, but there it is. I think it’s best if I just stay home and try to recuperate before I have to go back to work tomorrow.

I like the vase and the arrangement, Rebo.

What happened to that picture? Hmm. Here’s the whole thing.

Sorry you feel crappy, Taters.

Bleh.

Tired. Just got home, we slept in, had breakfast and I’m a gonna do a lot of nuthin’ today. I have some work-ish work to do, but that’s just sitting and typing things, nothing too taxing.

One of the Grande Queso’s called me at some ungodly hour this morning to tell me there was a really bad, one vehicle accident in town today and that four teenagers were killed. Nine were in the car, 8 of them from one of our high schools - four were dead on the scene, two more were airlifted and three are in area hospitals.

Nine, 14-17 year olds, in a sedan that has 5 seat belts. At 2:20 AM.

Everyone hug your kids, ok? I did.

swampy, I’m just as shocked as everyone else. Sometimes the people in charge don’t know who the really good workers are. They’re just stupid that way. I’m sure you’ll find a better job where they really appreciate your fabulosity and hard-workingness.

MBG, wow, that sucks. Teenagers aren’t always very smart when it comes to driving.

Taters, I think you should take it easy today. It sounds like a good day for a nap, and maybe some hot chocolate with whipped cream on top (or marshmallows, if that’s more your style). I hope you feel better!

Happy late birthday, PuppySlave! Since it’s the day after your birthday, I won’t even say anything about how I had to clean my own bathtub yesterday, since you never came over to do it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Happy anniversary, Rebo and Mr. Rebo! Nice vase!

MamaTiger, your scarf sounds gorgeous!

I need to bake bread and do some work, but it’s a nice day, so maybe I’ll go for a walk first.

Ask and ye shall receive. Or at least the first few inches of the scarf, enough to show the pattern, anyway. It’s a bit blurry because I just grabbed a quick shot, but I think it’s going to be nice. I’ll do the brim of the hat in that pattern, too, so it matches the scarf.

Palebunny has wandered off to the bookstore, and Papa Tigs is out [del]exhausting[/del] walking the dogs. Me, I’m just struggling to stay awake. A nap sounds really good right now, and the house is so quiet that it would be a good time for it. But I want to get to sleep at a decent hour tonight, after my too-late night last night, so no nap for me. Unless I fall asleep on my keyboard, which is always within the realm of possibility.

Whew - so much for my lazy day. I picked the turkey carcass and made a big ol’ pot o’ turkey-noodle-veggie soup. Then I decided I needed to clean my oven. I probably should have gone ahead and done the self-clean feature, but I had a can of oven cleaner, so I used it. It would have been easier if my oven door slid off, but it doesn’t.

I’ve got a load of white stuff waiting to be folded. We’ve also got a sick puppy - Scruffy puked twice. Lucky for me, I was in the basement when it happened, and **FCD ** had the honors of cleaning up after her.

Always something in this household…

Well, time to fold unders and then I’ll have me some soup. Want some? I’ve got lots. And I may have mentioned a few dozen times, I make gooooooooood soup!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARIES TO THE REBOS!!!

Lunch was a success. We had ham, broccoli casserole, mac & cheese, rolls and ‘nanner puddin’ for dessert. Everybody left full and happy. The happy part was due to the bloody marys served prior to lunch.

Church was also very good today. It was so jake to be in our own place again. It felt good. The people here for lunch today were all from St. Pat’s so we all talked about how great it felt to be in our own place again.

Bobbio I know that nursing home thing is frustrating. Still, one day it could be the real thing, though we all hope it’s always sump’n simple as dust.

Taters feel better! No one should have to be sick on a weekend. Sadly, for me, I tend towards gettin’ the sick on weekends. Course until I get a new job, that won’t matter too much.

MBG that’s a sad story. I read about stuff like that and then think about stuff I did at that age and I tell ya, it’s a miracle I’m here.

Friend’s mother’s memorial service (she’s being cremated) will be on Thursday. I’ll go to support him.

Oh, the resume looks pretty good. I’m giving it a rest now and will look at it again tomorrow to see what else I might need to do to it.

Everybody else, howdy!

ETA: Thanks for the continued good thoughts and wishes. Y’all are the bestest!

Aaaand, as it turns out, a 23 year old, arrested for DUI:

Link

shudders That is terrible. How horrible for the families involved.

I love the vase Rebo! And unlike flowers, sticks don’t wilt.

I am currently in the library, agonizing over my thesis proposal before it is due tomorrow. I’m stuck on the last sentence. ARGH.

Half the problem is that I have a million things on my mind. What am I going to do after this program is over? How am I ever going to pay my parents back for my tuition this year? What am I going to do my teaching demonstration on next Saturday? How am I going to keep my friend (who is visiting next weekend) entertained when I have so much to do? When will I ever find a guy that won’t break my heart? When am I going to find the time to write 5 pages of close reading on my thesis materials? AHHHHHH!!

Rebo I forgot to mention that I have one of those stick cleansing/vase thingys 'cept mine is much smaller. I like my stick cleansing on a smaller scale, I guess.

Dang MBG that story is just awful! Like I said it is a day-umn miracle I am still among us after all the stupid I did as a youngun.

Happy ReboVersary!!!

Laundry done. Soup et - oh yeah, it were yummerrific! Critters all fed and snoozing. I’ve still got to pack breakfasts and lunches for tomorrow, but that can wait a bit.

So, the $64000 question is: Will we get a snow day this week? The scare-mongers are threatening all kinds of nasty stuff Monday night into Tuesday *if * everything comes together just right. Since I’m now between projects, if it looks particularly icky and I don’t want to go in, I’ll just take the day off. In theory, they’ll have a better idea tomorrow night.

My baby just called - she’s over her strep and she and her sweetie are going out to dinner tonight. I’m so happy - she sounded so much better than the last time I talked to her. So I can relax my mom-mode.

Can’t believe the weekend is over already… <sigh>

That’s horrible, MBG. So sorry for all those families and classmates.

Vase still cool, Rebo. And Happy Anniversary to both of you!!!

Back from Mass. Thought of you and Mr. Lissar, LiLi. Our catechumens and candidates always have their class in the middle of 6:00 p.m. mass. They’re there for the beginning of mass and then leave after the readings.

That sentence is in there somewhere, Hank. You can find it!

Living room is all nice and clean. I’ve also shredded up a bunch of stuff (I bought a new shredder that you can run junk mail through without opening). Not sure what I’m attacking next.

Can’t believe it’s Sunday night already. At least I feel like I got a lot done this weekend.

Off to be productive some more.

GT

And find it I did. I’ve finished it and have sworn that this is final - you can’t get me to revise that sucker for all the tea in China.

~~Happy Anniversary, Rebo~~**

Layer #5 is the Mystery Layer.

Church was good. I hate having that many people staring at me, but the rite was very lovely, and about twenty people came up after and patted or hugged or shook hands, and congratulated us. One little tiny elderly lady practically cried with happiness at me as I was trotting over to the Mary altar. Our sponsors gave us awesome crucifixes. We’ve still got the Rite of Calling Candidates to Lenten Renewal (doesn’t that just roll off the tongue?) on the 25th. Dunno what that involves. We’re still doing occasional meetings for preparation for First Confession and stuff. We’ve already picked our saints and godparents.

Work was very, very boring. I’m glad to be home.

I survived my weekend, work work, work. At least I am off tomorrow, and get to go to both hockey games this week. I am eating a salad, and thinking about pizza.

MBG, that’s sad.

Happy Anaversary Rebo!!!

FCM, today was a completely hornk free day. :stuck_out_tongue:

SCL, I got the invoices if I want playoff tickets. $720 for the first two rounds  I guess I’ll just watch TV this year.

Happy Anniversary to the Reborns!

I spent the day in Slugsville - slept til almost noon - watched half a dozen Scrubs episodes - went back to sleep til 9, watched Family Guy and some Food Network, and here I am. Now, having taken my bills with some homemade lemonade (ok - I cheat - I use presqueezed stuff) I am off to sleep for the night

The last post says “today” and there is no new MMP, so what the heck.

Happy anniversary Rebos!
My job is making me feel stupid. The materials that are part of each of the courses I have to write make no sense to me. Why are we explaining to people who will never need to even “look” at an inspection plan, much less create one, how to create one? I’ve finally realized the root of what bothers me:
Every course I’ve ever written was task-oriented and prepared to be used as a job aid at 3am. A document that’s unreadable at 3am by people who are working the night shift for the 4th or 5th night that week (i.e., for most people, “people in different stages of zombiedom”… for the owls, change the hour to “10am”) is unreadable, period, and should be rewritten into readability. At 3am you don’t care about the definition of pH or the nature of the hydrogen bond, much less about who discovered that hydrogen is an element; you just want to know “how do I measure pH in this kind of sample”; therefore, the index should read like a “how to list for dummies”.
Instead our courses have a lot of stuff on the nature of pH and the history of the elements and by the time we get to “measuring pH” the students will probably be cross-eyed and asleep.
There’s also no information on their “current processes”, no attempt to build on what they already know. They’re being told to “forget everything they knew”, which in my experience is such a big piece of male-cow-excrement it oughta be sold by the ton.

IOW, I’m being paid to do a bad job, and I’m very bad at doing bad jobs :frowning:

A series of addendums in the back, like “Addendum A: How to measure PH”?

More work for you, of course, but better to make something useful.

And of course, Happy Aniversary, Rebos! (AKA Delores)

Happy Reboversary! - sorry I missed the actual day, I was out all day yesterday visitng the doting parent.

She sent me home again loaded down with stuff that she’d been keeping for me. Lots of it is either boxes of chocs or gift-packs of toiletries which she thinks we could use. Not that she thinks we’re smelly, of course. She knows we do some charity stuff during the year raising funds for an event called Run For Home which takes place in June or July (haven’t got this year’s date yet) and we often need things for a web auction or for prizes at other fundraising events. So the stuff she collects comes in very useful later on!

Not much else to report except that this stuff belongs on last week’s MMP because technically it refers to yesterday…
