Even worse than last week's MMP

I have cleaned most of the living room carpet. It was dirty. Tomorrow I clean the rest (after I put the curtains back up and move some stuff around to expose the parts of the carpet that weren’t cleaned. Little brother is spending the night on Monday as he has an all-day business thing in town on Tuesday, so I probably won’t clean the dining room carpet till Tuesday night. My goal is to clean one room’s worth of carpet a night till it’s all clean. We’ll see how that goes.

Off to bed.

I just got caught up. I haven’t posted in a bit cause I got intimidated in here. Your lives all seem so (I don’t know the word, but I think it’s) FUN. . . and interesting and together. But anyway. . .
Happy Birthday dogbutler!!

swampy, I just read about the job situation. So sorry to hear about that.

Jahdra, your knitting is so lovely. I would never have guessed that you’ve only been doing it for a year and a half.

A long time ago, I bought a knitting frame and was knitting sweaters on them. That’s what piqued my interest in yarns. More recently, about a year ago, I joined a knitting club to learn hand knitting. I was also there to meet people. But generally the people that went to the knitting sessions were older people (nothing wrong with that) that felt that my problems must be insignificant to theirs so they told me all about theirs. Since I felt I was already having enough issues on my own, I didn’t need to hear theirs as well, so I quit.

Catching up on what all has happened this week. Swampy, you’re in my thoughts and I hope your search goes well. Think good thoughts! Kaiwik, those poms are darling! And the skiffman ain’t bad either. Poor Scruffy, but I do hope that Brandy will teach her a lesson soon so that she can get off of FCM’s list soonest. Oh, and Swampy, I always love to see your posts about food because you talk about it having been “et,” a favorite term of mine as well. (My Dad is from Tidewater Va.)

Tonight, my daughter and I finished up our cards for the 2007 SDMB Valentine’s Day card exchange. I didn’t realize how much fun it would be, but we had a great time! I painted (watercolors) and decorated cards, as did my daughter (although she’s been working on her cards for the past week or so, a little bit at a time). Ours will go out on Monday AM, so I’m hoping that they’ll get to everyone by Wednesday, but a few may be late. :frowning: Hopefully they will be a post-Valentine surprise, and will also have a tiny surprise in them.

Apparently 5:42 was as late as I could sleep this morning. I tried to sneak out of bed to pee, then sneak back, but both Bernie and Scruffy made their Toilet Pilgrimmage by visiting me as I sat upon the throne, so I knew they were up and ready to go out. Swell. I grabbed a pair of FCD’s flannel jammie pants and my fleece robe and my snow boots - a lovely sight was I - topping it all with my red fleece jacket and red fleece hat. Clad thus, I took both canines out to tend to their morning ablutions.

So they’ve all been fed and I’m too wide awake to go back to sleep. But at least I don’t have pee and poo on my carpet.

In case you’re wondering, dark-of-the-morning temps here are in the mid teens, and it’s just starting to show light in the east. Today is supposed to be sunny and cold, and we’re being threatened with perhaps, possibly, a chance of a lot of snow late Monday into Tuesday if conditions are just right, although we might get nothing… I do love weather-guessers who’ll commit! :stuck_out_tongue: Although, since my project from hell is done, I wouldn’t mind a snow day or two. So we shall see.

Since I was a total slug yesterday, I most definitely have to do laundry today, and I absolutely have to do something with the pots I threw last week before they dry out. All the bottoms need to be trimmed, and the tall closed piece needs to be finished, once I decide what it’s going to be. So that’ll be part of my day. Plus I bought strawberries that need to be hulled and rinsed.

I’m sorry - I shouldn’t be throwing my exciting life into your faces. I know that what sounds mundane to me is envy-inducing for most of you. I should be more sensitive to how it sounds to brag on all my laundry and dishwashing when I know you can’t share the joy with me…

Anyway, who else thinks **swampy ** OD’d on nerve tonic?

If not nerve tonic, then ACBG…

I’ be headed straight to this place

I’m up to get chuchified. I might actually get there this week…

'Ullo, all. I am off to work soon (again). Yesterday wasn’t bad–I had a surprise orientee, which worked out all right. Hope today is quiet–I’m tired already.

I love the weather and all, but I’ve noticed that I cannot get my skin moist for love or money this winter. Believe me, I have humidifiers going; I use lotion and creams–my skin is a sponge this year.

Doggio --Many Happy Returns of the Day.
Tomorrow, the basement arrives (aka load of drywall etc).

I’m up an having coffee. Today is my long day, I am working till 8.

rigs, I have the smae problem. My hands crack and bleed during the winter.

Morning, all.

FCM, Aerin jumped up and down on my feet at six, but I meanly kicked her off the bed and went back to sleep. I’m glad there were no Scruffy Accidents.
My desk is very clean. Even the four or five pounds of mixed beads/eyepins/bits of chain and wire/pins/jump rings/ fabric scraps are gone. I think the layer went

  1. Sewing machine
  2. Pliers, glue gun, uncompleted fabric projects (about six)
  3. Fabric scraps (about half a garbage bag)
  4. Loose paper, little notebooks, photographs
  5. Broken pieces of jewellery/completed jewellery
  6. Little packages of beads, eyepins, jump rings, chain, spools of thread, ribbons, unspun fibre
  7. The aforementioned layer of mixed up junk. Let’s say seven or eight or nine types of everything, out of its package, and mixed up.

It took her two hours. She was picking expensive beads and needles out of the layer of stuff for about twenty minutes.

Today we’re getting formally introduced to the congregation. I think. IT’s the Rite of Welcoming or something. I don’t know if we have any lines. Ack!

I’m sure they’ll tell you if you have lines, LiLi. If you’re lucky, it’ll be right before you have to say them.

I slept exactly 8 hours. I’ve emptied the vacuum and am going to vacuum where I shampooed last night. Then it’s curtains back up, furhter shampooing and then more stuff back where it belongs. Should be exciting. Somewhere in there, it’s off to church.

Back later.

Howdy Y’all! Thanks for all the good wishes, thoughts, prayers and etc. I have been a busy bear. Ya know, no matter how bad you got it sometimes, there’s always somebody who’s got it worse. See, I got a call Friday evening about a friend who found his mother dead in a little town bout 70 miles northwest of here. The really tough part is apparently she’d been dead for two days. Anywho… we went over there yesterday to see about him because we figured he could use a friend or two around as he waited for his sibs to show up. They’re scattered all around the country so you know how that is with gettin’ there and all. We stayed until his sis and one of his bro’s showed up. Other bro was still in transit but was supposed to get there late last night. Sad though that is, I think it was good for me to just go and be a friend. We also straightened the place up, went and got some groceries and stuff like that. The guy was very grateful to have us around for comfort and to just do some stuff that needed doin’. Sometimes that’s the best kind of friend to be, so I’m glad we could do that.

Today, I’m having 10 people over for lunch. So when we got back last night I put a ham in the oven and started on a couple of casseroles. We’ll be leaving for church in about an hour which is when both casseroles should be done, so I can just leave 'em to cool. When we get back, there’ll be time to slice and warm up ham and warm up the casseroles and bake the frozen rolls(LiLi I’m a bread slacker, what can I say? ).

So, I’ve been a busy bear. This afternoon will be resume cleanin’ up time. It doesn’t look too bad, but does need a little punchin’ up. Tomorrow I’ll file for unemployment and begin the hunt. I’ve decided to look upon this as an adventure and a time to explore what’s out there. Who knows, I may even decide I want to do sump’n completely different.

Taters hope you’re feelin’ better. Everybody else, hugs, awwws, grrrs, etc as seems appropriate. I must attends to cookin’ stuff.

Later Y’all!

I forgot sump’n. Today is our first service in the new building! YAY! It feels so weird though because I’ve been so used to going to church at nine a.m. over the past thirteen months while we were sharing space with the Methodists, that I feel like I forgot to do sump’n this morning because by now we’d probably be doing Prayers of the People and general Confession. With the new building and all the service is now at ten-thirty. Still, I’m excited we’re finally in our own space again.

Wow - I’ve missed a lot in the last two days! A belated Happy Birthday, Doggio!!

Sorry to hear about your job woes, Swampy, but it sounds like you’re doing ok with it. So good luck finding something you love soon!

We’ve been busy here at the Rebo house. Friday I went and signed my life away on a new lease for the kiddo. And shopped for some groceries we needed. I made THE BEST DINNER EVER Friday night - jerk skewered shrimp with grilled onions, peppers, asparagus, sweet NOTs. It was faaabuuulouuusss!

Yesterday Mr. Rebo and I went shopping for a big vase and some fancy decorative sticks (from China!) to purtify the place a bit. 25% off!

And last night we went out and celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary. It’s really tomorrow, but with it being Saturday night and all… We had a blast. Went to the bar where we met, and then to another one, and then to dinner at PF Chang’s where my son works. Unbelievably busy! We had to wait a while, but my goodness the food was wonderful! We didn’t get to have him wait on us, but the other kid was fun. We ate Mongolian Beef and Szechuan Scallops and Shrimp Lo Mein. Yum!

Ok - gotta go make breakfast so we can run a few errands… I can’t believe it, but I’ve been up since 5:00 am! Totally caffeinated, and hongree…

Morning, all. Next time Papa Tigs asks me if I want a cup of coffee with my heavenly Amish baked apple dessert? Please kick me in the tuchus, hard, if I say yes. I was up till 2:30 totally wide awake. Grr. But I did get a pile of work done and watch Grey’s Anatomy online, so all was not lost. Oh, and worked out the knitting pattern for the scarf I’m gonna knit Papa Tigs. I got this gorgeous forest green heather yarn, and I’m doing a basketweave pattern. I will put up a photo when it’s done cause it’s gonna be beyooootiful!

Can I borrow QD to clean off my sewing table, LiLi? Pretty please with sugar on top?

I don’t know what I’m going to do today. Papa Tigs has kindly offered to do the laundry, so I’m going to let him. I’ve just a bit left on this congressional [del]bickering[/del] insightful questioning, and then I guess I can move on to the other piles of work I have. Since I need to get what I can done before I get sliced & diced in a couple of weeks.

You’re a good friend, Swampy! I’m glad you were able to be there for your friend; I know how much it must have been appreciated.

Everyone have a good day, now!

Link to vase with fancy sticks.

That’s lovely, LiLi. Our church was always very friendly but never had any formal rites for welcoming people. It’s a wonderful idea.

I just got an email from my goddaughter, whom I’ve not seen in years. It’s made me feel guilty about being such a terrible Catholic. :smack:

Okay, today I do thesis work. And lots of other work. Workworkwork.

**LiLi ** - what was layer 5??

Second load of laundry in the machine. I trimmed 4 pots and wet down the fifth and put it in a plastic box to remoisturize. I want to do some decorative carving into it, and it was too dried out.

Looks like it’ll be another lazy day. Maybe I’ll have a go at my income taxes…

I want a cookie. <sigh>

Sorry about your friend, swampy. But he’s lucky to have you as a friend.

Cool vase, Rebo.

I’ve progressed with the cleaning and living room reassembly. Curtains are back up, furniture is covered again. Coffee tables are back where they belong.

Friend is about to stop by and we’re going to go out for a bit.

Gotta go get ready.

Back later.

Well, the Snakes have now won 9 games in a row, and it’s time to reserve playoff tickets! We are sitting pretty in first place at the moment. There is a bus trip scheduled for Saturday to go to the game in Jacksonville. I am not sure why I signed up; I was miserable coming home on the last one.

Tonight is Skate with the Snakes for the season ticket holders. I got a ticket but I know I shouldn’t go - I’m really afraid I will re-injure my foot. But I waaaaaaaaaant to!

Busy week coming up - Blood Drive tomorrow from 1-6 (I’ll donate first then work the admitting table), Tip-a-Snake is Tuesday night, Booster Club meeting is Thursday night, and then the road trip on Saturday.

Sorry I’m late: Happy Birthday O Servant of Canines!

Swampy, you’ve been in my thoughts. Ya know, now that you no longer have that pesky work thing to deal with, it might be a good time to come up for a game. Just sayin’…

Once again, I never made it to church. I’m standing in the shower sudsing up what’s left of my hair, when VWife comes flying in with my pager going off. An automatic fire alarm was tripped at the Mayberry nursing home, and they were already evacuating the patients.

Long story short: more smouldering dust; this time in the coils of a fridge in the kitchen. Sombody buy them a shop vac…
