Even worse than last week's MMP

Okay, I’m up, I’m up. What’s with all the singing?

Oh.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HE WHO BUTTLES CANINES!

Still need some coffee, which I will fetch shortly, but of course I wanted to check the Dope first.

LiLi - A Monte Cristo. (That’s a ham 'n cheese done French toast style. Mmmm!)

Happy B-Day, Doggio!

I’m feeling like something the cat dragged in this morning. I don’t know why; I also feel like a thousand-pound weight got lifted off me by knowing we finally got insurance (and Papa Tigs’ pay aggravations) sorted out in time for my surgery to proceed apace. It was kinda getting touch and go there. So now I’m telling myself that I have to do some work this weekend – I have more [del]mindless drivel[/del] important legislative deliberations from the Fools on the Hill to get done by Monday morning. But first, I want to take a nap. Sigh. And I just got up half an hour ago. Yeah, I’m being lazy.

But not as lazy as the canines – when I got up, they were end to end on the couch, both sacked out so hard they barely opened their eyes when they saw me. They’ve been there all morning, apparently. It’s a rough life, huh?

Off to caffeinate some more.

Happy Birthday, Canine Servant!
off to get purtied up - My friend, her husband, The Guy, and I are going out to dinner then to a Vegas Night at friend’s temple. I’ll probably check in later before I get dressed for the “date”

Happy Doggio Day!!!

We’ve been out and about, looking for necessary car accessories. The accessories consisted of a milk crate for the cargo area and a trash can. I was thinking about maybe getting seat covers, since I don’t want clay residue to get all over the place. But I’ll put my clay tools in the milk crate and if my clothes are clay-dusty, I’ll have a towel that I can put down for the drive home.

I also discovered that a cell phone holder came with the car. It’s kinda cool - it fits in a cup holder and it can hold several different sizes of phone securely. I still need to do stuff like setting my radio stations and testing the CD player and reading the owner’s manual, which I’ll do today. All in all, I think I did the right thing. I hate having 2 car payments, but I feel better having a reliable vehicle. Maybe the van would have been fine for 2 more years. Maybe not. Now I don’t have to fret about every weird noise, and it was making some weird noises.

Next Saturday, looks like I’ll be getting together with 2 of my closest high school friends. I haven’t seen either of them since late 1981. So I’ll go to my mom’s to take some stuff to her, then meet with Denise and Jeanette somewhere for lunch. This should be, um, interesting. We were a trio in middle school and most of high school, and Denise and I went to the same college until I quit and enlisted. And other than the reunion in '81, we were out of touch till Denise and I connected thru Classmates 4 or 5 years ago. We’re all prepared to lie about how none of us have changed a bit! hehehe

And I found out that there’s going to be a home and craft show near where I work on the first weekend of March. I’m going to see if I can get a booth and unload some ceramical stuff.

Meanwhile, I have lots of dirty clothes that I need to get clean. Unless the laundry fairy showed up in the last couple of minutes. Ya think?

Tally ho!

My goal in life is to “work like a dog”

Happy Doggie Day!!!

Yawn. Ran the Wife to have her mammaries grammed, then we had breakfast and ran the tax papers to the taxman. I’m a gonne be off to the gym, then back here to do some boring work-ish items before we clean up and go to the Valentine’s Dance. It’s a town or two away, and in the Holiday Inn ballroom, so it’s a ‘get a room’ event.

Because a hotel room is cheaper than a DUI.

Tsk, tsk, tsk, MBG! Isn’t it supposed to be “because a hotel room is more romantic?”

Off to potluck…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOGGIO!

I too feel like something the cat drug in. My stomache is burning and feeling pukey all at the same time. My husband tried to convince me to eat something, but the thought of food makes me feel even pukier. Bleah!

I didn’t eat anything spicy, so I don’t know WHY my stomach feels like it’s on fire. I wish it would stop though.

No huge weekend plans for us, thank goodness. Mr. Taters took our son paintballing. They just left about half an hour ago, so there will be relative peace in the house for a bit. My daughter is so quiet right now that if she wasn’t sitting three feet from me, I wouldn’t know that she’s here.

I’m glad you’re enjoying your NEW CAR! FCM. Don’t you just love that new car smell?

My daughter received a catalog from Ithaca College yesterday. Um, yeah, we can’t afford that. She didn’t send for it, it just came in the mail. I imagine, we’ll be getting several catalogs. Seems like a nice school and even has a psychology program, but, the tuition alone is $27,000 grand a year. That doesn’t include boarding, books, etc. She doesn’t seem too interested in the school anyway.

I think I’m gonna cruise the Dope for a short while, then get cleaned up.

Hair and nails are all purty now (expect for a #%$^ing smudge on my left thumbnail from when I went to unhook my unlosable keys from the strap of my wallet-on-a-string

next question: do I wear the geogette tie-dye blue beaded top with black pants, or the heavier (sort of starched) cotton purple-y floral print tunic with complimentary lavendar pants?

(I did mention I’m seeing The Guy tonight, right?)

The georgette. All pretty and flouffy.

Back from wandering dowtown with AT. QD’s coming over. I bought soft fluffy pink fabric for a baby blanket- Intellectual Husband and his Wife are having a baby in a month. A girl baby. Wife likes really pastel colours. So, pink.

Shower has been taken, face moisturized, teeth brushed.

That’s about all the energy I can muster. I keep looking around my house thinking “Good grief! It’s sty in here. I need to CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN!” But, really I just feel way too crappy to do anything. I’m thinkin’ a nap would be nice. However, I know the minute I lie down, I won’t be able to sleep.

Maybe I’ll just sleep right here. My eyes feel very, very heavy.

Pot roast in the oven. I had to run to the store to get some N.O.T. and some fresh fruit (strawberries 2 fer 1!!) So there be a hunk o’meat and some chunked up veggies in a broth roasting away. Another hour, I think.

Scruffy on The List. She’s started chasing Brandy, and Brandy does not like it - duh. Miss Brandy needs to whap Scruffy upside the head with a bit of claws, and that should solve that. But I don’t expect it to happen.

Other than running errands and cooking, and emptying the dishwasher, I’ve done zippo today. Should I be ashamed? hmmmmmm prolly not.

Did I mention it’s cold here today? Well, it is. Very cold. When we went by the marina to check on the boat, there was a thin skim of ice on the creek and some interesting ice formations at the waterlines of most of the vessels. But the boat was floating, so that’s what’s important.

QD is cleaning my desk. She’s been doing it for about twenty minutes, and she’s one-quarter done. I’m impressed. She’s very dedicated. She already cleaned the fridge and tidied the cds.

She’s saying, “I know you’re mocking me on the Straight Dope, and I know they’re all going to mock me, but I’ve dreamed of this day for so long!”

QD, we are not mocking you. We are wondering when you will be coming to our houses to tidy as it would be lovely. It’s not as cold in Columbus as it is in Toronto…is that enough of an enticement?

We do think it’s cute that you enjoy tidying so much, though.

How’s it going, swampy? Hope you and ACBG are out carousing or something.

I’m back from the potluck, where food was yum yum yum. It was billed as lupper (think brunch, with supper instead of breakfast). We all laughed a lot and had a great time. Just finished off the last of my salad (only a couple bites).

And now I’m going to clean the living room carpet. Another exciting Saturday night!

Happy Birthday, dogbutler!! Hope it’s a good one! Live a long, happy life, as we say in Korea.

Got a new dress today, yay!! Went shopping with Scottish Darling. She got a used guitar, I got a dress for our department party next Friday. Both of us are quite excited.

Tomorrow it’s workworkwork for me. Really! I mean it!

Happy Birthday, Major Domo of Mutts.

Here’s an odd one for y’all. I went to a small forest fire today (another moron burning trash torched a half acre), and came home with a perfectly fine but dusty canoe. The next door neighbor of the moron wanted it gone and I’ve been wanting a kayak for the exercise, but this’ll do. I gave her 3 lbs of my nuts in exchange…

How you doin’, Swampy?

:smack: in Korea we say, live a long HEALTHY life. But a happy one too, while you’re at it.

Yes, swampybear, please let us know how goes it.

That is a cute dress, Haze!

I’ve been sitting here at my desk puttering all day and evening. I just can’t bring myself to concentrate on working, but I have managed, in bits and pieces, to get through most of the [del]inanity[/del] important testimony from this stupid congressional hearing. I should finish it tonight, but I want to take a break and watch this week’s Grey’s Anatomy – I already took a break to watch Ugly Betty, and now Grey’s is calling to me. Sigh. The dilemmas of the self-employed.

How’s it going, Swampy? We harass, but we care!

Dinner was delicious - we went to one of my faves - a Mexican place with live music (2, sometimes 3, guys with guitars and lovely voices) Then we went to the “Vegas Night” which was 2 Black Jack tables, 1 Caribbean Poker, and 6 tables of Texas Hold’Em - all full with no hope of getting in (alternates were on a first come first serve basis and one woman had been waiting over an hour to play) So we left and went back to my friend’s house for coffee and whatever. We were going to watch a movie but we ended up talking until 11. Nice evening, but again I didn’t get more than a cheek peck from The Guy. <sigh>

And neither top I wanted to wear fit quite right, so I went with a beaded long sleeve tee and black pants. meh. whatever - I got out of the house and that’s the important thing. now I am going to bed.

Work went. I had steak, salad and baked N.O.T. for a late birthday dinner. Beerverages will follow.

Haze, neat dress.

bobbio, do you have a paddle, because you don’t want to be up a creek without one.

LiLi, if bQD** saw my desk she would go fetal. IANANF*

*I am not a neat freak
