Events on the week of April 14 - 20

So, we naturally still have the Virginia Tech event on our minds. It happened on Monday, April 16th.

Naturally people compared it to Columbine High, which was on April 20th.

Which happened on the same week as the Oklahoma City bombing, which was on the 19th.

Which happened on the same week as the Branch Davidians… Also on the 19th.

And now, in prerparations for this post, I see the following:

Ludlow Massacre 1914, April 20.
What else happened this week?

Additonally, if you have a cite to the ““real”” reason that the event occured, please post that as well.

Could a Mod move this to GQ?

I had no idea it was in GD.

Then again, when I couldnt find it in GQ I had some idea something was up.

Well, of course there’s Hitler’s birthday, April 20.

Moderator’s Note: And on April 20, this thread got moved!

Captain Cook “discovered” Australia on this date in 1770.

My mom was born on April 19.

Oh! My! God!

Won’t somebody stop this insanity!!

My aunt, who’s birthday is April 19th, wondered why Mr. Cho didn’t wait a couple days, in keeping with all the other massacres that happen on her birthday.

I don’t have any real input, except to wonder if this same game can be played any other week out of the year. Something tells me the only reason this week seems special is because we’re living it now, and something crazy just happened.

Income tax is due during the same week, and most people look on that rather negatively, as well.

I used to date a girl named April. She was a total BITCH!

The Battles of Concord and Lexington - the historic “start” of the American Revolution - were on April 19, 1775.

Great minds thinking alike, apparently.

A man apparently troubled about the Virginia Tech killings, a William Phillips Jr, has taken two hostages at NASA. One apparently escaped and Bill Phillips has now killed the other and himself. Details unfolding.
