Ever been banned from a messageboard?

I asked a political board to take me off the board. But before they did I called the conservative on there illeterate and backwards.

I think I have you all topped. A certain no-longer-extant message board which we will refer to as the Sinister Buttock board was, due to misunderstandings all around, involved in a brief board war with this board. I attempted to register there, and was informed by a autogenerated message that my registration had been rejected.

So I was banned without even having posted.

polycarp…that is bad

Sinister Buttock?

Regards,
Shodan

Someone must have told them what a radical hot head you are, Polycarp.

troublemaker!

What’s another word for buttocks, Shodan?

And if something isn’t right

I didn’t find out until I tried to post at said board. I e-mailed admin and got a freaking form letter that said:

You were purged in a routine Undesirable Poster Purge. We are afraid this is non-negotiable. So anymore posts asking again, why you were banned, will be ignored.
-Sincerely,
Some Jerk Admin

Well, I kept at it, and re-registered, just to let the people there know I was banned and I had no clue why. Turns out I had told a poster there that calling someone a name was immature, and THAT was why I was banned.

shrugs

It was weird.

Oh, and a bunch of us SAANers were banned from the Counterstrike forums after we waged a counter invasion. They kept spamming us with porn on our boards, so our admin locked down registration, and then WE went over there and spammed them with cutesy pictures of kittens, bunnies, Carebears, Precious Moments, and said things like, HUGS!!! WE WUB YOOO!!!

It was so funny! THEN, one of their posters thought it was Something Awful, so he went spamming over THERE. Well, let’s just say that it was a bad idea…

no, but there’s a first time for everything…
heads off the rapture ready forums…

I initially ignored this thread because a.) its title made me think it might be fire-swallowing by a short-term flame-out and b.) I thought that this subject really has nothing to do with me.

Then I remembered. Yes, I am amongst the banned. I am no longer welcome at Stormfront, after my first post. I asked how the members there might define race. Sure sign of a troublemaker.

A short term flame-out with 369 posts? ;j

I was banned from a certain paranormal board a couple of years ago along with a few friends because I dared to demonstrate a sense of skeptism and gasp a sense of humor.

I wasn’t considering you, The Griffin, merely the thread title. No offense intended.

**Twiddle ** both ways. Usually the latter. If they work off of IP#, then usually looging in again gets you a new one and you never see the block again. If they work off email, then there’s plenty of free ones.

I was on the LBMB once. Not at the same time as the war between that board and this one, but a few months later. I had just read the first book and had to vent somewhere, so I went over there and started wanking about how bad it was. Didn’t get much response, so I started mopping up in some creationism vs. evolution threads, then started in on the end times section. Eventually they caught on and deleted my acocunt, along with any threads that I had posted in. However, my e-mail address stayed on their list, so for the next year or so I still got messages, one of which bragged about how tolerant they were of dissenting viewpoints.

If it’s the one I’m thinking of, I haven’t posted there (I occasionally lurk) as I’d last about 11 minutes after saying the matriarchy screws me over more than does the patriarchy . I could probably measure the time between post and big-stompy-foot in frozen pizza cooking-time increments. :stuck_out_tongue:

I got banned from another board (supposedly PG rated, yet there was always links to quasi-naked ladies) for saying, in somewhat more filthy language, that I would perform fellatio on Janet Reno.

(Don’t ask.)

SDMB, sorta.

On the last day of work before I went into the hospital, I found that my office’s IP had been banned. I sent an email to the admins asking if I’d done something wrong, and by the time I came all was well again. I’m pretty sure I’m the only Doper in my office, so I’ve got no idea what happened.

I also think I might have been banned from posting comments to Japan Today articles, after I routinely criticized their staff for pathetically uninformative stories. From now on, whenever I try to log in as sublight, rather than a ‘banned’ message, I get some weird kind of error. I re-registered as sublight2 and had no problem. I still keep pointing out where they leave important facts out of their story (nothing editorial, they just c&p the bare-bones newswire articles) and have had a couple of posts deleted, but they’re still letting me sign in.

I was banned from a message board related to a MMOG I play. A board of which I had been one of the admins. Let’s just say things turned into a nasty political meltdown, someone was spreading particularly repulsive lies about me, that person was associated closely with the senior admin who would not warn or temp ban him for lying, I stepped down as admin and stopped posting.

About two weeks later someone informed me I was banned because the admins (the remaining admins being somewhat, um, ill-educated about the internet and unable to perform IP bans) were concerned about a security breach. I poked over and indeed they’d banned one of my ezboard usernames but not the other one. If I’d still cared in any way, I would still have been a “security threat.” As it is I find the entire debacle remarkably amusing.

I was banned from the SDMB.

But then I got better.

(It was an accident.)
