Ever been to a place featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives?

I searched the list for every place I might conceivably have been to that could have been featured on that show, but none of them were there.

The one I would love to see on there is Flo’s Place, in Murrell’s Inlet, SC.

I’ve been to Chap’s Pit Beef in Baltimore a couple of times. I like it; worth a trip if in the area.

I’ve been to Psycho Suzi’s many, many times. The food is good, but it is bar food - nothing gourmet here. Drinks seem expensive, but that’s due to the glass charge (you can keep the tiki glass if you want, it’s $4. That $4 is then removed at the end if all the glasses are returned.) She’s also opened up a sister bar, Donnie Dirk’s Zombie Lounge, that’s just as fun.

I’ve also been to Emily’s Lebanese Cafe, and I remember the food being good. Don’t remember what I had, though.

Huh! I’ve also been to Donatelli’s, as well. Really nice gnocchi.

I have not, but I went to look at the list andthis place is about 10 minutes from my office. It’s not the best part of town, but I’ll have to give it a try one day.

We’d gone to Joe’s Cable Car in San Francisco a handful of times before anyone at the Food Network had ever heard of Guy Fieri, and liked the place as a rare treat.

Not so much that burgers and fries are unhealthy, but because Joe’s prices were financially unhealthy. They weren’t exactly cheap 15 years ago, and he’s kicked up the prices even worse since being featured on the program. From a recent Yelp review: “burgers, fries, and drinks for 2 can easily cost $50 after tax and tip.”

Yikes!

A friend of mine owns The Starlight Lounge. Their perogies were featured. They had an increase in business due to the show, and continue to use the show in their advertising.

Chino has a TV set up for the express purpose of playing their DD&D segment on request. It’s funny and a little sad at the same time.

Shocker Khan and I have tried to get to as many as we can. Here’s our list so far:

Hackney’s - Glenview, IL

  • Didn’t think it was that great. Liked the onion loaf though.

**Frank’s Diner **- Kenosha, WI

  • This place is amazing. The garbage plates featured on the show are good but their Blue Schue burger (1/2 pound burger stuffed w/ blue cheese and bacon) is amazing. One of the best burgers I’ve ever had, actually. We’ve gone there three times, all special trips from Chicago just to eat at Frank’s)

**Kuma’s Korner **- Chicago, IL

  • Constantly getting put on best burger in Chicago lists. It’s really really good but usually a very long wait to get a table. The burger w/ the poached pear and brie that was shown on DDD was ok but the pear was a little overpowering. I had a special that day which included chicken confit and a whiskey/cherry/beer reduction sauce that was very good though.

Krazy Jim’s Blimpy Burger - Ann Arbor, MI

  • Fantastic burgers and really good onion rings and fried vegetables.

Cemita Puebla - Chicago, IL

  • Best Mexican food in Chicago, outside of a Rick Bayless joint. The cemita sandwiches are crazy good and I love the Taco Arrabes (schwarma tacos). Also, they have a chalupa appetizer that’s out of this world. We’ve gone a few times since first trying it.

We have also been to **Taste of Peru ** a few times and love it. Very excited to hear that it’s going to be featured on the show. If you go, be sure to bring a bottle of Peruvian Pisco and have them make you pisco sours. They’re fantastic.

Also, a hot dog/burger joint in Evanston, IL called **Wiener and Still Champion **had a segment filmed over a year ago that has never aired. It’s great too.

I’ve been to The Triple XXX in West Lafayette. It’s known locally as the Tri Chi.

They had a banner made - “As featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives” which they now hang off the building and they enjoyed a fair amount of press when they were featured. No idea if it increased business.

They make made to order, greasy burgers and fries. Sort-of like a Steak and Shake with more “color.” They are famous for specialty burgers named after Purdue sports stars - I think the Wayne Purvis burger has peanut butter on it. As far as I know, Drew Brees is the lastest Boilermaker to be so honored.

Its niche in town is the place one goes at 3:00 am (it’s open 24 hours) to get something into your stomach that’s greasy enough to absorb all the alcohol you consumed earlier in the evening.

Schooner or Later and The Mad Greek, both on numerous occasions.

In SLC, I’ve been to Ruth’s Diner many times. It is an institution. Good food, very well depicted on DD&Ds. Also, Moochies, on 8th South puts together a great sandwich for a reasonable price. The only place you can get a good Philly Cheese Steak in SLC IMO.
Sadly, I have to agree with the above poster on The Red Iguana. It used to be fantastic. Great spicy Mexican food with good portions, but it’s slide downhill has been tragic.

I’ve been to the Red Arrow Diner in Manchester, NH several times. More of a dive than a diner, really. The best thing about the place is that it’s open late. Not a big fan of their non-breakfast items.

Once our table collapsed and dumped all the coffee and condiments in a nice pile on the floor. Good times.

I live at the mouth of Emigration Canyon, just a quick 5 min. drive from Ruths.

I agree that it is a great spot, and have enjoyed it for many years, especially in the summer while sitting outside on the patio for a beautiful weekend bloody mary brunch…

I dont eat meat, so I have never been to Moochies, but knew a guy who worked there for a few years, and he always said how he felt they were really trying to put out the best food possible, and seemed to take pride in his job.

I’ve been to two in Oklahoma: Eischen’s Bar in Okarche and Cattleman’s Steakhouse in Oklahoma City. Eischen’s is supposedly the best fried chicken in Oklahoma. I think it’s overrated. It’s good but nothing worth writing home about.

Cattleman’s is also good but it’s more of an institution than a good steak. Yes, they sell lamb fries and they’re pretty good but again, nothing to write home about unless the recipient would get squicked out hearing that you ate lamb testicles.

Tommy’s Joyntis an interesting place. All the meat you could ever want, plus beer from dozens of countries.

The Tee Offisn’t far from where I grew up. Been there a few times. Nice little dive bar, and ridiculously good food.

I have been to Tommys Joynt a few different times—An impressive beer selection to be sure, but not too much to eat for the “non-meat inclined”…

Even better beer selections can be found at Mad Dog In The Fog or Toronado’s which are both on lower Haight.

I’ve eaten at the Red Arrow Diner in Manchester, NH. Not bad, not amazing good either. Fries were good. Not too greasy or salty, which I expected.

Since I don’t like the feeling of having people waiting for my seat and watching me eat right over my shoulder, I don’t go too often. There is honestly not even 3 feet between the counter and the wall where people have to stand and wait. But they’re open all the time so when everything else is closed on a late Sunday afternoon, it’s an ok place.

I’ve been to The Beacon in Spartanburg, SC several times. A long time ago a former roommate and I used to make it a point to get there at least once a month. It’s really good, if what you want is simple heart attack inducing greaseballs. Just satisfying terrible for you comfort food.

Not only have I been to a place featured on the show, I (and my husband) were the ones that directed him there. We were at a Sunday morning farmers’ market when we saw the red Camaro that’s on the show parked nearby, with a largish older guy standing next to it. We chatted him up and found out he worked on the show with Guy. Turns out they were at the farmers market to check out a pulled pork truck that frequented the market. We mentioned a great new-ish place that had opened near our house a few months prior – Smoque BBQ. The guy said he’d mention it to the other folks. We didn’t really think anything of it until next time we went to get some brisket and the owner, with whom we’d become pretty well-acquainted over the months, mentioned that they had taped a show there that would be airing soon.

And for the record, Smoque is just as good as they say. Maybe not the best ribs in town, but the brisket is ridiculous.

Smoque in Chicago recently. Busy little place but the food was excellent and the prices were good. My default BBQ place was smoke daddy, but I think I’ll switch to these guys.
