Ever dream this man?

Autolycus, according to Go Daddy domain search this site is owned by one “Andrea Natella,” reportedly a marketing sociologist.

A google of her name took me to 404 | Eurozine where she has an article entitled, “The Origins of the Subversive use of the Hoax in Italy.”

Link appears to be broken.

What, Me Worry?

The cached version links to the article in French.

Funnily enough, almost all of mine aren’t. I tend to dream of people that I don’t recognise. Should I hold the opposite view: that dreams aren’t sorting through memories?

Impressive. I got to about 800 but have been slacking of late.

Interesting, I found it creepy too. Partly because I expected it to be an animated gif and that it was about to do something scary.
But mostly it was the same reaction I get to photofits on Crimewatch. Must be something “uncanny” about the proportions on these things.

I’m not gonna look at it because then I will start dreaming about him.

Now that I think about it, I really don’t seem to dream about faces much. Mostly just the feeling of being in places and the feeling that people are around, but not specifics of their appearance.

It’s because it’s from software designed to make a face that looks like a police composite.

Check this website out:

The hairstyle is #10, and the mouth is #9. Have fun!

Also, eyebrows: #30, nose #36, jaw #19, head #6, eyes #22. I made a pretty good likeness but I can’t screensave it. I saved to to the website under “pravnik” as author and “My This Guy” as name.

Nope.

He looks like a patient of mine, though.

I thought the creepiness was part of the reason people would wind up dreaming about him.

I also have never dreamed this man, as, while I do dream faces, unlike in real life, they don’t stand out. The only reason I recognize people in my dreams is because I already know who they are. To the point where, when I wake up, I realize the person I saw didn’t look a think like the real person.

Hope that makes sense.

So, I understand all the research done on the domain name, but if this is gorilla marketing, what the heck is the webmaster selling or advertising?

I chased this all around the web the other day, caught up in the mystery. Did find a reference to formica tables. Can’t find a confirmation.

Also ran into a discussion of whether guerrilla marketing works, considering how obscure the reference can be. It does raise the question.

Incidently, Andrea is an Andre. And not a very nice human being I think. Said something about effing the market to conquer it. Ugh. A commercial rapist!

Clever, annoying little rascal, Mr. Eyebrows is.

Here is a direct link to a French translation of Andrea Natella’s paper on the origins of the subversive use of the hoax:

According to the hoax link, they are selling images of the dream man. On shirts and coffee mugs. Which is…brilliant.

Autolycus, you know I love you, but please stop saying “gorilla marketing.”

I know what it’s supposed to be, but I still like my way better.

Would a tasty banana help change your mind?

I live in the States, so you wouldn’t even have to peel it.

Nope, isn’t he one of the Chippendale dancers?

hh

I would have looked just like Thisman had I sexually matured at the age of ten.
