I don’t have any tattoos and don’t plan on getting any, but I’m always having dreams where I get a tattoo that I don’t want. (My girlfriend has tattoos so I see them on a regular basis - possibly explaining why I always dream of them.)
Last night I had a horrible, cold-sweat nightmare in which I somehow got an elaborate, full-color tattoo of a red rose and a banner reading “Ricky Martin.” I was horrified and disgusted, and I remember thinking “I can’t possibly afford to get this removed, so I’m going to have to figure out a way to justify having ‘Ricky Martin’ on my arm!”
Other tattoos I’ve dreamed of having and not wanting:
Beavis and Butt-Head
A giant black rectangle
A picture of my own face
In all of these dreams, I have no recollection of actually getting tattooed - the tat just appears on my body. And in all of them, I am filled with regret and terror, and panic because I have no way of removing them.
Do any of you guys or gals experience these dreams? If so, do you have any tattoos in real life?
When my daughter was a toddler, I had a dream that I went to pick her up at day care, and while I was doing so, I say two kids in the back of the play area “playing” with tattoo “guns” (dream remember?) scribbling on each other’s faces with them.
I tried to get the care giver’s attention, and she turned to me after looking at them and said “Its ok, they are just expressing themeselves”…

I had a nightmare become reality when I found I had a tattoo in one of the worst possible places and still have no idea how it got there. It’s on my daughter’s shoulder.
And it became a repeating dream, but it only happened twice, not three times like Full Metal Lotus’s did.
I’ve never had a tattoo dream, and I have one. A few weeks ago, I dreamt that Paris Hilton did her reality TV show in my lab and I disected her dog for lymph nodes.
