Not a fan of opera music by any stretch of the imagination.
I saw this girl on 20/20 last night and am f’n amazed.
Hard to believe that voice is coming out of an 13yo.

Pretty impressive for little girl. Not without flaws, though. For one thing, It sounds like she needs to work on her breath control. That said, I look forward to watching her mature.
She was one of the finalists on “America’s Got Talent” for 2010.
In my opinion, only her age prevented her from being the overall winner.
Well, that and Michael Grimm’s hotness.
Our local PBS aired a concert with her recently.
She was also on Oprah’s last shows.
I think she has an amazing voice, for her age, but as others have pointed out - will she improve with age, or become just another decent singer of opera and other similar type songs?
Her new album is out on the 23rd and her improvements are staggering. Been listening to it on Amazon.com who are streaming it for free until tomorrow.
Incredible.
Thanks for the head’s up. I enjoyed listening to the new album.
I like this video from some small talent contest when she was 9. Not because her singing was so incredible then - although for a 9-year old it was great. But because the host was so condescending to the little unknown kid when she introduces her, and by the middle of the song she was wiping away tears.

I hadn’t heard of her before, but she was on this season’s America’s Got Talent.
Hulu clip with commercial of Jackie Evancho on AGT 2014
She was on America’s Got Talent in 2010. I’m assuming the one you linked is some sort of showcase performance (I don’t watch AGT except when people link clips).
I’m glad to see that she’s at least taking a break from opera and singing stuff that’s more appropriate for her age. She’s still occasionally (especially in that clip) artifiicially darkening her voice to sound older, and there are still worrisome things going on in her production (somebody needs to deal with that jaw wobble) that would concern me as a teacher going forward. I’m relieved that at least there doesn’t seem to be any signs of damage, which I worried about when she first started on the scene. (As you may guess, I’m not a fan. Nothing personal–I wish her the best–but she was singing far beyond her capabilities four years ago, and frankly I just don’t find her that impressive. She’s got potential, but I’d rather she step back and really learn her stuff before she puts herself out there. The sad fact is that most child prodigies grow up to be average at best.)
