Oh, for f*ck sake!
Ever really, really misread a title? I was at the BBC News website and the ticker along the top has “LATEST: Lifestyle trendsetter Martha Stewart will not get a retrial.”
My brain saw it as: “LATEST: Lifestyle transgender Martha Stewart will not get a retrial.”
Gave me a major WTF moment!
Been doing a lot of publicity in the GLBT realm lately, so it actually kind of made sense for a second there and dind’t faze me at first.
It’s not a lifestyle, dammit!
It’s a good thing.
That was actually the weird part. If it weren’t for the word “lifestyle” I probably wouldn’t have realized I’d misread.
“Transgender Martha Stewart” didn’t really cause a blip in my mental radar. “Lifestyle transgender Martha Stewart” made me go stop and go “WTF?” somehow thinking she was starting some kind of faux trans trend.
I was actually on the verge of being offended when I realized I was in the Land of D’Oh.
shakes head :smack:
Just now. I read the thread title as “Ever really missed a deadline?..” I was really confused what the “Transgendered Martha Stewart” part had to do with the first half.
You mean she isn’t? I thought all that corporate hard-ass attitude coupled with the decorating savvy was a transitional period. (Kidding! I’m kidding!
Just this morning, I misread a sign on a truck as “We Deliver. Fuck You.”
After the double take, I realized it was We Deliver for you.
I still like mine better.
A few weeks ago I was trying to read while my husband was watching the news. Out of one eye and ear I hear/see a story about the spread of AIDS in the corn industry. I thought “Oh no, this is going to be bad.”
Oh, PORN industry. Never mind.
