I was always fascinated by Poe’s short story , “THE MASQUE of The Red Death”…in p[art because of the rooms described by Prince prospero. He had several rooms, all furnished in the same color (blue, orange, green, violet, etc.). Has anyone ever used such a color scheme for a living room? I think it would be cool to have green walls, floor, couch, rug, etc. Has anyone ever done such a thing?
Of course, having windows with glass of the same color would be over the top…although I don’t think I’d like the “Black” room described in the story (with blood-red windows).
Growing up, my parents had a blue room: Blue shag carpet, deep blue bedspread, blue apholstered chair with blue accent pillows, a blue cloth runner over the vanity, a blue framed illustration, and blue window treatments that made all the walls and ceiling appear blue. The only thing that wasn’t blue was the dark wood furniture and the white lampshades. It was a marked contrast from the rest of the house, and I have to say I was glad I didn’t spend much time in that room (though it was good for watching TV, since the room was always naturally dark, even in the middle of the day).
