Ever unintentionally learn the meaning of another Doper's username?

Not quite the same, but I always read TubaDiva as “Tuba Diver” with a Boston accent on the Diver ( drop the final “r”, substitute and “ah” sound). I could not quite figure out why some one would want to dive in a tuba, but what the hey.

Finally, I realized that it was Diva-

She was a tuba diva.

Sheesh.

I believe that Clothahump was the name of wizard who happened to be a turtle in a series of books I read many years ago. But it was the wrong way about, i.e., I read the books then happened on the name here much later.

I’m hoping Clothahump will come by and confirm or deny that his user name came from that book series.

Well, SOMEONE here has a Lovecraftian name, I’m almost sure of it!!

Although HPL hasn’t posted for a month, I believe the screen name (monogram?) is a tribute to Howard Phillips Lovecraft. There was also a member named Cthuhlu at one time, and Hastur (already mentioned in this thread) was a character used by Lovecraft after being created by Ambrose Bierce.
