Another problem with EQ: If you get into the higher levels, you really enjoy a worthwhile gaming session unless you have a six hour or more block of time to kill.
Why is that? Because it takes time for a group to work their way into a dungeon, and getting out can be a pain also. If you’re an essential class (like cleric or enchanter) your leaving pretty much means that the group has to leave also, so they BEG you to stay.
The thing about the six hour minimum time frame for higher level is definitely true. My enchanter just hit 50, and it’s really hard to just pop on for a couple hours. The nice thing about playing a chanter or cleric is that you get in groups right away. The bad part, as Blalron mentioned, is that when you do need to leave unless you can find a replacement you’re pretty much forcing the whole group to leave.
It’s a fun game, but it does tend to take up your life. It’s very easy to feel like you need to play every day. I’m trying to cut down, but the temptation is still there. There’s always one more raid to do, one more item to get, etc. etc.
