Yes, I’ve played EverQuest. Possibly the most addictive thing to hit America since nicotine. Who else has played it? What are your characters? You can say servers too if you want to. Share any funny stories or comments you have about the game. For any news regarding the game I reccomend http://www.eqvault.com
My characters.
Level 50 Wood Elf Ranger Iindara on Tunare (This is actually my sister’s character, but she hasn’t played her since she hit 50.)
Level 18 Troll Shaman on Fennin Ro This is my baby. He is so cute. I haven’t played since just after the expansion, so if you have tell me anything of interest.
I love EQ. A couple friends of mine convinced me to get it so I could play with them and I’ve been hooked ever since. I even got Jophiel into playing it.
My characters are all on Luclin for now:
Talera - Level 3 High Elf Wizard
Riandar - Level 9 High Elf Wizard
Melisande - Level 8 Human Enchanter
Lyinar - Level 6 Wood Elf Druid
Nashira - Level 5 Erudite Necromancer
Jophiel plays on Saryn I think it is, something like that
He has twol
I actually beta tested EQ while it was in the second phase of testing. They sent me an official beta CD and everything. I would consider paying $70 for EQ after my experiences with it, but I am totally NOT interested in paying a monthly fee to play any game at all. I’m a senior in highschool, and I have some months when I have no time to play at all. I’m just not a fan of the pay-each-month business model for games.
I agree that the graphics were gorgeous. It’s just too much of a time commitment and there many good new games coming out every month. It doesn’t make sense to restrict yourself to EQ by having to pay a monthly fee to play it.
My main character is named Eirth (15th level warrior, dwarf),
then I have Axos (retired 7th level shadow knight, human), Transya the transvestite dark elf (12th/13th level shadow knight…better eyesight makes for more fun at night) who I have been playing most often now, and my last character is Peepeekaka (I was feeling immature… 2nd level Iksar Necromancer).
They all have some type of personality and all hate wood elfs. Mostly it is me that hates them since on Lanys they tend to be junior high aged bastard children who have nothing better to do than shout constantly about how “k3wl” they are and how everyone else “sux.” Oh also, I belong to the only gay guild that I know of around.
As for individual personalities, Eirth is the typical warrior hero. He fights things and is real protective of the party he is in. Axos is a leather man and since I retired him Transya took his place. Transya dances with all the monsters and is a complete masochist constantly telling them to hit her and do it harder. I have gotten a lot of comments about that. Once I danced with another player who would pull my hair when I told him I liked it rough. Last Peepeekaka has a pretty bland personality. I play him like a young kid playing but I try not to be annoying. He knows he will have power and he does his best to abuse it which is really tough at level 2.
I left out that my dumb dwarf is a linguist and speaks alomst all 24 languages perfectly in the game. He has about 6 more to learn better than they currently are.
I recently got over my EQ addiction. Haven’t really played in over a month, after playing non stop since beta. (I was a tester too). I’m Free! I’m Free!
I played on Nameless as, errr, Modian. But I played on Cazic when it first came out, first as Sendar, then as Tenyen.
Relative newbie here, since I’ve been playing only about 6 weeks. I am Halfdan, a 16th level gnomish rogue on the Torvonnilous server. My wife HATES EQ, and finally knows what the football widows feel like. (Unlike football though, it’s always EQ season!)
Ultima Online was my drug of choice for about two years.
I got tired of the game and decided to publish an Onion-style mock newspaper for it which was a big hit for a while, but even that died out (still up though: http://neptune.spaceports.com/~scupper/vtimes/ )
Never really got into EQ or Asheron’s Call. UO was enough of a crack-fest. If you think leveling in EQ is repetetive and dull, try mining in UO. Oh. My. God. I can’t believe I wasted so much time on that damn game.
My wife rejoiced when I quit. Now my friends are whispering evil things into my ears: “Anarchy Online,” “Shadowbane,” “UO2,” …
