Everybody has a topic they can bore people to death talking about...

Boy, you ain’t just whistling Dixie.

A joke, dude. A joke.

I got the joke alright.

Not me!

I just pretty much keep my mouth shut, saying little or nothing, keeping my mostly vacuous thoughts to myself, and bore people to death that way.

Works for me – and with so much less effort!

yeah, i’m lame.

You can talk to me about it next week.

Au contraire, that sailing trip is immensely awesome. I’m waiting for the book to come out, however, as the interrogation method was starting to make me feel icky. I can’t speak to the relationship woes, but I suspect there are some good stories in that as well. There usually are!

No cause for that at all, truly.

Well, yes, but everybody here has already heard them.

Not everybody. 'Tis my first summer on the migratory route.

Wait for it…wait…wait…

Oh yes, you bet.

Though really, as much as some people on the Dope either run screaming from me or snark at me about her, I don’t talk about her a fraction as much as I could. Not even a teeny tiny fraction of a fraction. Believe me, I could talk for hours and hours about her music, her voice, her history, my 23-year fandom and friendship, and so on and so forth, and only scratch the surface. I generally don’t talk much about her though, except to other fans. What I do do is post links because as much as it annoys some, it’s the only way anybody, if they’re even slightly interested, will hear her.

This may have been the first time I told it.

Wow. When did that happen? What did you do?

That was horrible. I feel like I should offer you a hug or somethin’…

I think even my husband just cringed.

If I’m gonna be boring, I figure I should at least be entertaining about it.

February of '97.

I don’t remember the exact details. She didn’t bring a date, (can’t remember if I tried to get another ticket or not) but it hardly mattered by that point. The play was good. And she and I are still friends; we chat once every few months on Facebook.

She ever seem to have any self-reflection about that event? Ever seem to realize that perhaps that was a, uh… an unenlightened thing she did? And what was the play, so that I may avoid it? Heh. It may be cursed.

I’m great at parties. :stuck_out_tongue:

I asked her about it a year or so later. She barely remembered it had happened.

I think the play was Confessions of an Illusionist, a one-man show by Dan Kamin.

Everybody bored yet?
