Everybody has a topic they can bore people to death talking about...

Family anecdotes

What?!

Heathens.

As long as it is the movie, I’d want you on my dinner party list.

?? There is nothing more entertaining than a well told family story.

You sound awesome for everything else, but this is something I could even chime in on. Genesis, anyway (became a huge fan in 1973, stuck with them until after Abacab, the kind of fan who used to collect all the re-issues of their first album-I swear I had at least 20 copies of From Genesis To Revelation at one time, including the original UK version). Yes, somewhat (stuck with them until after Drama, but never knew them quite as well as Genesis). King Crimson, not so much. I liked what I heard, I just never bought all the albums and set about learning them by heart. I’m sure I would have loved them if I had.

Actually, everyone in this thread sounds awesome. You’re all into such interesting things!

My thoughts exactly! It would be very difficult to assemble a more interesting group of people, though I would probably personally steer clear of the music and science types (no offense) and hang with animal/religions/indexing crowd. The poster who said that a well-designed index is a beautiful thing is absolutely correct. I LOVE discovering a well done index and creating one is an art.

The past- “I dated this guy once who…” “One time I…” “Remember when we…”

Dogs, particularly my dogs, but I’m quite happy to hear about your dogs as well.

Dog training, particularly schutzhund training - a sport designed for German Shepherd Dogs, but open to dogs of any breed that are suitable, that involves tracking, obedience and protection work. I also do a bit of dock diving, agility and urban mushing with my dogs, so just ask and I’m good to prattle on about any of that, too.

Anyone want to hear more? Thought so.

How odd. I find word by word ordering to be ridiculous and unintuitive, and I find letter by letter to be sensible and intuitive.

No wonder there are two systems. You can’t please everybody.

Yeah! Rock music is the great democratizer.

I bailed on Genesis as soon as I heard And Then There Were Three (1978), which is the point where they’re suddenly all “Prog? What prog? Never heard of it!” Yes’s *Tormato *the same year was also a letdown, not as bad a letdown, but still it was when I checked out of following new Yes releases. When I saw them on MTV a few years later with a number one hit, I was bowled over. Thought they’d been defunct for good.

I once knew a typographer named Aaron Burns. Of course we called him “Bums.”

Hockey.

For every fan I run across there’s ten people who roll their eyes and say something like “How do you watch that, all they do is fight!”

Quoted just so I can say OMG I LOVE YOUR USER NAME.

Mental health issues, anything pertaining to depression/anxiety/human nature/behavior.

And FYI you indexers, I flunked filing in library school.

My mid-major state university alma mater and its athletic programs.

Scooters. For instance, a very good friend just asked me, “Why do you need two? I don’t get it.” :smack: Why for the variety of course. Why do you need more than just one pair of shoes? I don’t need more than one, but it sure is fun to be able to have two completely different rides. One is a Yamaha Vino 125cc twist-n-go. Can reach speeds up to 60mph if I want to push it, it’s limber, fits me just right and she’s a blast to ride. The other one is a Genuine Stella PX150 2-stroke. It’s full of pep, also fun and keeps you on your toes because you’re constantly shifting up and down.
HEY! Did you just roll your eyes? You bored yet? I bet you stopped reading after the first line. :stuck_out_tongue:

  • Cars (esp. mechanicail aspects)

I like how senior posters bump a zombie thread and hope nobody notices. (I’m watching you rage comic)

I guess, I won’t bore you to death but I like discussing these topics:
Indian Politics.
How future and currently existing technologies improve or potentially improve lives of masses.
Various statistics (sports, national parameters etc).
Ambition of human life.

I have become a crashing bore expounding on the evils of the people who run the NFL and NCAA football.
