is mentioned in the April issue of Vanity Fair. The page of book reviews says “Eve Golden reels through the life of silent-film star John Gilbert (University of Press of Kentucky).” John Gilbert is the title of the book.
I was thrilled when I turned the page in Vanity Fair and saw Eve Golden’s name! I’ve already ordered the book. Yay Eve!
I have been wondering how she is and how she got thru Superstorm Sandy. (I didn’t have internet at that time.)
The blurb reviews on Amazon keep saying ‘definitive.’ No buyer reviews, yet, because they’re still taking preorders.
Also, “This may be Golden’s finest achievement yet.”
Another triumph, my dear.
Congrats.
I’ve been eagerly anticipating this book. I hope she does some personal appearances. Come to Cleveland, Eve. I will entertain you.
Since this thread is old, here is a spiffy new one.
One blogger has mentioned a couple interviews she has had about the book.
Seeing the cover of the book points out how he managed to climb to the top of the studio heap of the day, having seen him on netflix a few times [I have a thing for old movies] I can see how he managed to stay there!
Anyone else ever seen Bardelys the Magnificent? I saw it at the Kansas Silent Film Festival back in 2009, when we had it’s restored premiere.
I fell in* love*! Gilbert’s daughter had been lined up to be a speaker, but her health and age ended up prevented her from being here.
What a wonderful review . . . “DEFINITIVE!” . . .and I can’t wait to see all the photos of this gorgeous man. (I’ll try not to drool on the book.)
Awesome.
And color me impressed, I didn’t know Eve was so prolific…
Less than a month ain’t exactly a zombie; I merged the two threads.
